Wesley House Wesley House is an outreach mission for the underserved. We offer a food pantry, homeless services and more for the community of Crawford County, KS.

Wesley House is an outreach mission of First United Methodist Church. It was founded in 1982, to help individuals who are underserved in Crawford County. The mission of Wesley House is to provide a safe, welcoming place for individuals of Crawford County to seek assistance, advocacy, education and hope for a brighter tomorrow. We have a food pantry that is generally open Monday-Friday from 1:00pm

to 3:00pm. We also have a day time homeless shelter available at Wesley House. Hours may vary so please call ahead. We have other programs available when we receive funding to cover costs. Please come check us out, donate or volunteer your time!

A key position for Wesley House and our food pantry. Our Food Procurement Manager is actively involved in obtaining goods needed to support the daily operations of our food pantry program including sourcing, purchasing items, receiving and inspecting goods, while keeping accurate records. This position takes a lead role in building relationships with our supply chain, donors and vendors. This position is physically active; must be able to frequently lift heavy inventory the majority of each shift. Must have efficient time management skills, self motivated and able to work independently. Must have a valid driver's license and meet our insurance requirements.

Other duties depend on current grants or events happening. Must be organized, flexible and able to work with a variety of volunteers.

Primary hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.

In response to extremely high temperatures, Crawford County has opened select buildings as cooling centers for residents who do not have access to air conditioning.

To stay safe and cool during extreme heat, residents are encouraged to:

• Stay indoors in air-conditioned spaces as much as possible and limit exposure to the sun.

• Dress in loose-fitting, lightweight and light-colored clothes that cover as much skin as possible.

• Familiarize themselves with the medical conditions that can result from over-exposure to heat, including heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

• Avoid strenuous work during the warmest part of the day. Use a buddy system when working in extreme heat and take frequent breaks.

• NEVER leave children or pets alone in closed vehicles.

Thank you Community Foundation of Southeast Kansas for awarding Wesley House with a grant to purchase 648 drawstring bags for our Homeless Program. These lightweight, reusable, water resistant bags will be used for food and supplies and given to individuals in need.

We are still accepting donations for items needed in our Homeless Shelter and those items will be used to fill these bags!
