The City of Pittsburg's Recreation Department is hosting its first My Brother's Keeper (MBK) Ambassador Program kickoff on Wednesday, March 18, at 5pm at the Marina Community Center, 340 Marina Blvd. The MBK Pittsburg Youth Ambassador Program is designed to empower and uplift young men of color ages 14-21 in Pittsburg, California, by providing the tools, mentorship, and resources they need to complete their post-secondary education or training, ensuring they succeed and thrive in their communities. This program is FREE to up to 25 young men thanks to a grant from The Barack Obama Foundation.

The East Contra Costa MEDS Coalition is recruiting high school students to participate in a paid Youth Curriculum Review Team focused on improving a Fentanyl Awareness & Prevention Curriculum for local schools.

Youth participants will review curriculum materials, share feedback, and help ensure lessons are engaging for students.

What participants receive:
βœ” Payment for participation
βœ” Youth Leadership Skills
βœ” Opportunity to make a real impact on youth health and safety

Time commitment:
β€’ Meeting 1x per week for 5 months
β€’ Meetings are 1–2 hours each

Eligibility:
β€’ Attend a high school in East Contra Costa County

The East Contra Costa (EC) MEDS Coalition is recruiting high school students ages 14–18 to participate in a paid Youth Curriculum Review Team focused on improving a Fentanyl Awareness & Prevention Curriculum for local schools.

Youth participants will review curriculum materials, share feedback from a youth perspective, and help ensure lessons are relevant, accurate, and engaging for students. This curriculum will be used to support school districts in East Contra Costa County.

Time commitment:
β€’ Meeting 1x per week for 4 months
β€’ Meetings are 1–2 hours each

Please join the Central County Community Forum to help shape Contra Costa County's Substance Use Strategic Prevention Plan. Community members (especially parents, families and youths) and local stakeholders are invited to join the discussion on issues surrounding the underage use of alcohol, cannabis, opioids and other drugs.
