Purpose of our Society - "To perpetuate the memory of the spirit of the men and women who achieved American Independence by the acquisition and protection of historic spots, and the er****on of monuments, by the encouragement of historical records in relation to the Revolution and the publication of its results, by the preservation of documents and relics, and of the records of the individual service of Revolutionary soldiers and patriots; and by the promotion of celebrations of all patriots; and by the promotion of the celebrations of all patriotic anniversaries. To promote, as an object of primary importance, institutions for the general diffusion of knowledge. To cherish, maintain and extend the institutions of American freedom, to foster true patriotism and love of country, and to aid in securing for mankind all the blessings of liberty."

Please join us in celebrating the 239th Anniversary of the Constitution of the United States of America. This document created a Representative Democracy for our nation. We are so fortunate to have had our nation's framers of this document. Their thoughtful approach to forming a new independent nation tied us with the strings that bind us as a people. We offer a special thank you to David Abernathy, Mayor for the City of Pittsburg, Texas, for his thoughtful Proclamation for our City and neighbors.

On this day, 71 years since the murder of Emmett Till, we remember a 14-year-old from Chicago whose life and death jolted the conscience of a nation. Visiting family in Mississippi, Till was abducted and lynched after being accused of offending a white woman—allegations later recanted. His mother, Mamie Till-Mobley, made the agonizing choice to hold an open-casket funeral so the world could “see what they did to my boy.” Jet magazine’s photographs seared the brutality of Jim Crow into public view, galvanizing a new wave of civil rights activism.

Here’s a detail many don’t know: during the trial, the defendants’ lawyers stacked the courtroom with white townspeople carrying ri**es on gun racks in their trucks outside—an unsubtle show of intimidation that framed the “not guilty” verdict. Months later, the killers confessed in a paid magazine interview, shielded by double jeopardy. From the Montgomery Bus Boycott to the Freedom Rides, Till’s memory became a rallying cry, a reminder that justice delayed is justice denied—and that courage can begin with telling the truth in full view of the world.
