People Who Care

People Who Care People Who Care (PWC) is a nonprofit community organization dedicated to inspiring positive change.

Nonprofit Youth Organization

It is time we take responsibility for the youths in our communities and help them in ways that will benefit the rest of their lives. At People Who Care (PWC), our nonprofit outreach organization provides after school activities, vocational training, and employment opportunities for kids between the ages of 12 to 21. Youth Solar and Environmental Training Program (YS&E

TP)
Green jobs are one of the most promising sectors in the current economy. On January 14, 2011, PWC launched its Youth Solar and Environmental Training Program. In partnership with key local agencies, PWC provides at-risk and high-risk youth with environmental education, green-related job training, and practical experience in leadership and entrepreneurship. The key partners are:

(1) People Who Care Children Association
(2) Contra Costa County Mental Health
(3) Contra Costa County Probation Department, and Juvenile Services Division
(4) Pittsburg Unified School District
(5) Individual Trainers and Consultants

After-School Mentoring Programs
Established in 2009 in partnership with Contra Costa County Mental Health, the PWC Hip Hop After-school Program provides much needed support for children who attend Community Day School, Golden Gate, in Pittsburg, CA. These high-risk juveniles include those referred by probation and local school districts for expulsion, behavioral issues, or school attendance problems. Children attending Community Day have a half-day curriculum, which means they get out of school everyday at noon when other schools are still in session. After-school hours are a critical time for these children, when healthy extra curricular activities can keep them out of trouble. We provide key activities, including
Vocational Training
Employment Opportunities
Monthly Individual Child Assessments
Academic and Educational Support
Peer-Based Juvenile Delinquency Prevention

Youth learned how to prepare their fishing gear, cast a line, and fish alongside their families while connecting with nature and enjoying the beautiful outdoors. The day was filled with learning, teamwork, laughter, and some exciting catches! 🐟

A heartfelt thank-you to the East Bay Regional Park District staff for providing such a fun and educational experience for our youth and families. We are grateful for opportunities that bring families together while encouraging young people to explore, learn, and care for the environment.

Hello, July! Before we move forward, here's a look back at an amazing June. 💙

June was filled with growth, service, and meaningful connections! Our incredible youth proudly represented P.W.C by volunteering at the Pittsburg Car Show, the School Is Out Event, and a community event at the Moose Lodge. Each opportunity helped them build leadership, confidence, and a passion for giving back.

We also celebrated successful Parenting Class series, where families came together to learn, connect, and grow stronger together. 💙

Thank you to our amazing youth, families, volunteers, and community partners for making June so memorable. We can't wait to see what the rest of the summer brings! 🌞

Leading Today. Shaping Tomorrow. 🌱

¡Hola, julio!

🎨✨ Community, Creativity & Impact ✨🌱

Recently, through our NextGen Green Careers Program, PWC clients helped bring a mural to life at the Antioch Skatepark alongside Bay Area Murals and Designs and muralist Eric Rosales, in collaboration with the City of Antioch. PWC clients got hands-on with spray painting and experienced how art can transform a shared community space. 🎨🙌🏽

More than just painting, this experience built teamwork, confidence, and pride, showing our youth the impact they can have in their community.

🌱 Community in action 🤝

This past weekend, our PWC clients supported an incredible partner organization doing impactful work in Contra Costa County, Hijas del Campo.

Hijas del Campo is a nonprofit dedicated to supporting migrant and seasonal farmworker families by improving daily life, working conditions, health, and safety, ensuring access to basic necessities.

On Saturday, our clients helped with event setup and cleanup, playing a key role in making the event a success. Through this collaboration, our clients gave back to a meaningful cause while earning community service hours and gaining hands-on volunteer experience. Opportunities like this keep our clients engaged, build responsibility, and strengthen their connection to the community.
