As a special event before the 11th Annual Death Faire on November 7, heart2heartnc welcomes Kathleen Hannan for Grief, Love & Joy: Singing from the Heart.

Saturday, October 31, from 3 to 5 p.m. Chatham Mills Studio 480 Hillsboro Street, Suite 410 Pittsboro

Kathleen is the founder and director of the Bodies, Voices & Spirit Community Chorus in the NC Triangle. She is an Alexander Technique teacher, songwriter, and Dances of Universal Peace leader. For more than 60 years, she has shared songs that bring people together and support healing and joy.

In this two-hour workshop, we’ll learn simple songs and circle dances celebrating our connection with nature. We’ll also make space for grief, remembrance, and feelings about death and change. You can dance standing or sitting—whatever feels right for you. Workshop notes, lyrics, and song recordings will be shared afterward.

The cost is $25. Registration is required. You can pay online or at the door. To request financial support, email [email protected] before registering.

The Animal Companion Death Cafe is a safe, open-hearted space to share stories, ask questions, and explore the many ways we honor our animas in life, in dying, and in death. This is a gentle, judgment-free space for conversation, comfort and community support.

WHEN: Second Thursday of the month 6:00-7:30pm. Upcoming dates: October 8, November 12 and December 10

We’re seeking volunteers to help make the 11th Annual Death Faire welcoming, meaningful, and memorable. Volunteering is a beautiful way to support the day, connect with others, and help hold space for healing, remembrance, life, and death.

Join Heart2HeartNC for a special gathering in preparation for the 11th Annual Death Faire on October 31: a heart-opening song circle with Kathleen Hannan.

Kathleen is the founder and director of the Bodies, Voices & Spirit Community Chorus in the NC Triangle, an Alexander Technique teacher, recipient of the NC Arts Council Songwriter Fellowship, and a certified Dances of Universal Peace leader. A lifelong student of the Heart, she has spent more than 60 years writing, collecting, and sharing songs that foster connection, healing, and joy.

During this two-hour workshop, we’ll sing simple, accessible songs and share gentle circle dances honoring nature, grief, remembrance, and joy. All bodies are welcome—participate on your feet or from your chair.

There’s no roadmap for grief—but meaningful connection, reflection, and being witnessed can become part of the healing process.

Join us for Death & Cupcakes: Letting Go—Harvesting What Matters Most, a heart-centered gathering with Sheila Fleming. Saturday, September 26th at the Pittsboro Presbyterian Church, 10:30am-12noon.

Together, we’ll create a safe, compassionate space to explore conversations around death, dying, loss, grief, and renewal—topics that are often left unspoken. Through shared stories, quiet reflection, gentle mindfulness, and heartfelt conversation, we’ll honor what has been lost, cherish what remains, and recognize the gifts grief can carry forward.

And yes—there will be cupcakes. 🧁
