WHOOOIE! What a finale last night!
What a spectacular way to wrap up Bynum Front Porch’s 25th season of summer music!
First, the rain politely held off so the always-outstanding Bluegrass Experience could take the outdoor stage. And then, when a little rain finally did arrive, more than 200 fine folks who had come out for the celebration simply… stayed! Some opened umbrellas, some just enjoyed the cool drops—and everyone kept on enjoying the mighty fine music.
We also marked this very special 25th anniversary by honoring two people who helped start this beloved music tradition: former General Store manager/postmaster Jerry Partin and former Bynumite Molly Matlock. They received flowers, a celebratory cake, and their very own “Tushkin”—that legendary Bynum artifact made at the mill after it closed and later discovered by many after the mill burned down. A truly Bynum-ish way to commemorate 25 years!
JDub’s food truck kept everyone well fed, the music kept everyone happy, and the strong sense of community that has always been at the heart of these summer nights was shining bright.
A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who came out to listen, dance, sing, celebrate, and brave a little weather; to our hardworking BFP volunteers; to John Winecker for curating another terrific season; to emcee Ron Hatley for all he brings to these evenings; to Ted Williams & Joe Alagna for the big effort it takes to set up/flawlessly run/take down sound equipment; to Bluegrass Experience for their stellar musicianship; to theatre artist Eric Jacobs for creating the fabulous Tushkin awards; to River Dukes and Diana Garside for arranging the evening's recognitions, to Katya Yegorov Crate & Maggie Frantz for organizing the quilt raffle, which raised substantial money; and to Joe Pedit for capturing it all so beautifully in his exquisite photos, as always.
And finally, a heartfelt THANK YOU to all of you who have made 25 years of summer music in Bynum possible. What started 25 years ago has grown into something pretty darn special—and we couldn't do it without this wonderful community.
Here’s to 25 years of music, memories, and mighty fine Bynum community!
