Another bridge in the books 🎉
The Tintfutfwini bridge project has broken a number of boundaries for Engineers in Action. Our project was the 40th completed pedestrian footbridge in Eswatini. It was the first bridge in the nation to cross a permanent river, leading to our inability to travel from one side to the other without a 45 minute car ride. The community it served was upwards of 2,500 individuals. We worked alongside two constituencies and their members of parliament. Our bond with Microprojects was especially strong, with their entire office coming to lift cables. Our proximity to Malolotja National Park prompted hippo and crocodile safety training. The local school claimed that in the wet season, school attendance would drop from 20 to 5. These projects make a real difference.
We sent three travelers this year: Karoline, Jack, and Carlo. The first two acting as the projects quality control managers and the latter as one of our construction managers.
We look forward to another bridge project in summer ‘27, as well as the notion of a potential water resource project this summer!
A huge thank you to all our sponsors, our impact would not be remotely possible without your continued support.
