Donut is going for surgery.
July 5th is bloodwork. July 9th he goes in.
For those who don't know Donut — he came to us from a hoarder house rescue, one of over 250 cats pulled from a single home in conditions we still don't have the right words for. He was born there. He came into the world with subpatellar luxation, a condition where his kneecap is out of position. It's painful. It's been limiting him since the day he was born.
Blandine and her daughter Sophie have been part of our foster family for a long time. They took on Donut and his brother Croissant. They took on some of our most fragile, most complex special needs cats from that same hoarder house — the ones that required the most patience, the most specialized care, the most love. They showed up for every single one.
When Donut's surgery estimate came in at $4,500, they covered it. Not because it was easy. Because they've been with him from the beginning and they weren't going to stop now.
This is what rescue actually looks like. Not just the dramatic saves — but the long, quiet commitment of people who keep showing up.
