Today is National Donor-Advised Fund Day! 💚

A donor-advised fund, or DAF, can be a simple way to organize charitable giving, but here at The Foundation, we know it is about so much more than a fund.

It is about the people, families and businesses who want to make a difference in the place they call home. It is about having a plan for giving, supporting the causes that matter most, and knowing that generosity can make an impact both today and for years to come.

The Foundation is here to help donors achieve their charitable goals, whether that means recommending grants from a donor-advised fund, making a gift through an estate plan, using an IRA to support favorite causes, or finding another way to give.

Behind every fund is a person, a family and a reason for giving! We are grateful to know the people behind the giving and to help their generosity make a difference in Piqua.

Congratulations to Edison State Community College on the groundbreaking of the new Upper Valley Medical Center Premier Health Nursing Wing Addition!

The Foundation is proud to support this important project through a capital campaign pledge from the community grantmaking fund. Preparing the next generation of nurses is essential, and we are fortunate to have a strong nursing program right here in our community.

The impact of this project goes far beyond a new building. It will help prepare more nurses, strengthen our local healthcare workforce, and create opportunities for generations to come.

The new 6,000+ square-foot addition is expected to be completed in fall 2027 and will allow Edison State to increase the capacity of its associate degree nursing programs by 33%.

This photo is a great example of the impact that can happen when local philanthropy comes together around an important community need. What a wonderful site to witness representatives from our local foundations gathered to celebrate this exciting investment in the future of healthcare education and our local workforce. 💚

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is such an amazing program, with kiddos looking forward to receiving a new book in the mail each month. We’re so happy to be able to support this initiative and help make reading a part of so many children’s lives from an early age. 📖

🍀Sharing the Luck!

Richard Donnelly didn't just win the lottery. The entire town of Piqua won the lottery, too!

Each year, The Donnelly Donor Advised Fund of The Piqua Community Foundation awards grants to local nonprofits serving our community. This year, $36,750 of that luck was shared with local organizations, helping support the work they're doing right here at home.

If this doesn’t speak to who this guy is, then we don’t know what does. He makes sure our sidewalks are cleaned off every Thursday, but today, even with a dead battery and a “feels like” temperature of 100 degrees, he still didn’t let the day pass without making sure we were taken care of.

We are forever grateful for Richard Donnelly’s heart and for all of his support of The Foundation and our community! 💚

Sharing food, sharing community 💚🧺

We were so happy to be part of the first Longest Table in Piqua! What a great way to bring people together, enjoy a meal and spend an evening celebrating our community. We brought the fans to help keep things cool and a free scoop of ice cream from Susie's Big Dipper to provide the sweet ending to the evening!🍦

☀️ We hope to see lots of Piqua residents at The Longest Table today! We’re excited to be part of this special event and will be there to help keep things cool. 😉💚

Come join us for a great afternoon of food, connection and community!

The Longest Table Piqua is in just three days, and we have updates to share!

This free event brings people together for a shared meal and conversation. Tables and chairs are provided, and guests bring food for themselves and an optional dish to share.

The Longest Table Piqua is scheduled for 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, August 29, 2026, on High Street between Wayne and Main streets in downtown Piqua. The potluck-style neighborhood gathering occurs immediately before the final free show in the Lock 9 Concert Series.

We will have children’s activities, including face-painting, games with the Piqua Public Library staff, story time with the Piqua Public School’s Bookmobile crew, chalk-drawing and photos with a vintage fire chief’s car. We also will offer free bottled water thanks to Koverman Staley Dickerson Insurance and a special surprise for registered attendees!
