On March 22, 1919, a group of visionary women gathered at Piqua High School to establish the YWCA Piqua. Initially, they rented rooms above the Piqua Daily Call and the May's Opera House, but their success soon necessitated the purchase of a larger building. Today, that building stands at its current location, having been remodeled twice since its purchase in 1920. In 1962, an addition was added t

o the back, and a new structure was completed in 1970, with an elevator added in 1992. Since its founding, the YWCA Piqua has evolved along with its building, offering a range of programs and amenities. Early activities included pageants at Chautauqua, plays, chorus and glee clubs, Sunday vespers, general lecture talks, current events groups, and sewing. Today, our programs cover a wide range of interests, including voter education initiatives, health-related classes like yoga and healthy moves, a fitness center, sauna, craft and educational classes, and monthly luncheons featuring engaging speakers. In addition to our programs, the YWCA Piqua also offers banquet, reception, and meeting rooms for rent, with Wi-Fi throughout the facility. Consider holding your next event at the YWCA, where you can take advantage of our flexible spaces. We also offer gift certificates for a YWCA membership, women's fitness center, trips, and classes, making it easy to give the gift of empowerment and community. Other events at the YWCA Piqua include Meet the Candidates, Evening Dessert, and seasonal day trips. Our members and volunteers play a crucial role in planning and executing these events, as well as representing the YWCA Piqua in the community. For over a century, we have provided women and girls with a space to develop their leadership skills and grow as individuals. We invite you to be part of our mission and to join our community of strong, fearless women. The YWCA movement encourages us to be "strong along and fearless together."
