Day Five – Our Final Destination: Italy!

Ciao! The Cubs set up early today to make sure they experienced the very best Italy had to offer—from BB guns to Mr. Kurt’s wild and crazy soccer matches, to even more fishing! We didn’t just build our own catapults; we also had the chance to launch the big catapult courtesy of Troop 172.

One of the day’s highlights was creating our own adorable Leaning Towers of Pisa. Before we knew it, noon had arrived, and the gondola races were in full swing out on the river in Vienna. It was a fierce competition, but Den 5—our Webelos 2—claimed the bragging rights. Congrats!

We wrapped up our Italy adventure back in the center of town, where we sat down to enjoy a very Italian lunch… of grilled hamburgers and hotdogs!

Once our bellies were full, we gathered for the Passport to Adventure closing campfire. The dens did a wonderful job entertaining our families with skits, jokes, and songs—there were smiles all around camp.

We hope everyone enjoyed this past week as we explored so many cultures and countries together as Pack Ockanickon.

In the coming days, we’ll share even more highlights that haven’t been released yet. We can’t wait to see you back next summer for another unforgettable week at camp “Dinotopia” STOMP, SOAR, DINO ROAR

Sabah al-khair!
Today we traveled to Egypt! While we may have stumbled a little with the greeting, we all enjoyed our time exploring this amazing destination.

The morning began with an exploration of the Nile River — a huge shout-out to the Desko family for making this possible. (More photos of this adventure coming soon!) While part of camp was on the river, the other half enjoyed exciting water relay games and a lively round of gaga in the big pit.

Before we knew it, it was lunchtime with our Cubs, complete with more repeat-after-me songs to keep the energy high. In the afternoon, we learned the game of cricket — for most, it was their very first time playing! Meanwhile, Mr. Don kept the range busy with slingshots, and down by the water, the fish were biting. In Cub Grub, we cooked up delicious Egyptian fry bread. Lets not forget about an “archaeological dig” — better known as dissecting owl pellets

Sadly, our world tour is nearing its end. Tomorrow, we set off for our final stop — Italy! Our passports are now full, our adventures have been endless, and we’ve made memories to last a lifetime.

🦘Day 3: G’Day from Australia! 🇦🇺

The Cubs took a whirlwind trip to the Land Down Under today—and what an adventure it was!

We started off by exploring the art of Aboriginal Dot Painting, creating colorful masterpieces full of texture and story. Then it was on to boomerang design (and throwing!), where Cubs learned the history and science behind this iconic Aussie tool. Of course, no trip to Australia would be complete without a little Aussie Rules Football—our Cubs gave it a go and brought their energy to the field!

🐝 Special Guest Alert: We had a buzz-worthy visit from 4 Brothers Honey, who gave an incredible hands-on lesson about bees and the honey-making process. The Cubs impressed us with their knowledge—shoutout to those who could identify Worker Bees, Drone Bees, and the Queen without missing a beat!

🍯 Cub Grub: Inspired by our bee visit, today’s treat was Honey Joys—a sweet Aussie snack made with cornflakes and a sticky honey glaze. Safe to say, they were a hit!

🏹 Despite Australia’s famously unpredictable weather (a.k.a. our own cloudy skies), Mr. Don led another awesome day of archery. Cubs are quickly becoming expert marksmen—and markswomen!

🌊 Coming Up Tomorrow: Don’t forget your water shoes as we journey to the Nile River—or as we call it, Tohickon Creek of Egypt! A little water adventure awaits!!!

From Japan to Brazil — Another Stamp in the Cubs’ Passports! 🇧🇷✈️

We couldn’t have asked for better weather as we explored the sights, sounds, and flavors of Brazil!

Cub Grub was a huge hit, especially the juicy Brazilian pineapple. The Cubs even learned how to pick a ripe one — then quickly filled their bellies! 🍍

Craft time brought bright colors and culture with God’s Eyes and vibrant tie-dye shirts inspired by native Brazilian textiles.

Our morning hit the mark with archery, where Mr. Don showed incredible patience and gave each Cub one-on-one attention. 🎯

Thank you to everyone who sent in Egg Drop supplies — we had a few scrambled casualties, but many designs kept the eggs safe. It’s clear we have some future engineers in the Pack! 🥚💡

While the Cubs already knew soccer is Brazil’s favorite sport, Mr. Kurt introduced many of them to volleyball — another big hit! 🏐

The rest of the day was filled with fishing, bubbles, axe throwing, and lots of new songs.

Those camp shirts are getting filled with signs of adventure — from bullseyes to fish, pineapples, eggs, and more.

Tomorrow, we’re jetting off to Australia. Get ready, mates — a new adventure awaits! 🇦🇺🐨

Day One is in the Books!
The Cubs traveled to Japan today—konnichiwa! 🇯🇵

We kicked off the adventure by learning how to greet people in Japanese before getting our passports stamped. The Cubs got creative making koi fish kites, trying their hands at origami, and crafting some very sweet sushi treats.

The fish were biting, and the range was hot—with Cubs taking aim using BB guns and slingshots. They also discovered how popular baseball is in Japan and played a fierce game of “Buddy Ball.”

Back at camp, everyone worked on perfecting their Scout skills—learning how to pack their packs with the 6 Essentials, practicing Leave No Trace, and brushing up on their knot-tying.

Get some rest, Cubs—tomorrow we’re off to Brazil! 🌎✈️
