🧸 Size Matters: How Big Should Your "Hugs" Be?
When choosing a stuffed animal to donate to Operation: Teddy Bear Hugs, size is an important factor! Because these animals live in the passenger compartments of patrol cars, fire engines, and ambulances, we have to be mindful of the limited space available to our first responders.

πŸ“ The Perfect "Hug" Size
* Minimum Size: We love small friends! Items as small as Beanie Baby size are perfectβ€”they are easy to store and easy for small hands to hold.
* Maximum Size: We ask that donations be no larger than 18 inches.

Why the 18" Limit?
* Vehicle Space: First responder vehicles are packed with life-saving equipment. Anything larger than 18 inches takes up too much room in the cabin.
* Practicality: During a crisis, a responder needs to be able to hand over a toy quickly. A standard-sized plush is much more practical to carry and hand out than an oversized one.

Quick Reminder on Safety
Regardless of size, please ensure all donations are:
βœ… New or gently used
βœ… Clean and odor-free
βœ… 100% soft (No hard eyes, battery packs, or wire frames!)

🧸 Plush Donation Guidelines: What Makes a Great "Hug"?
We want to ensure that every stuffed animal given to a child is safe, comforting, and ready for a new home. If you are cleaning out your toy chests or shopping for donations, please keep these Operation: Teddy Bear Hugs requirements in mind:

βœ… The "Hug" Checklist
* Condition: We accept new or gently used stuffed animals.
* Cleanliness: Items must be clean and odor-free. Before donating, please give gently used friends a quick wash or a lint-roll to ensure they are fresh for their next adventure.
* Softness Only: To ensure the safety of children in emergency situations, we require animals with no hard parts.
* Please avoid items with battery packs, mechanical parts, or stiff wire frames.

Why "No Hard Parts"?
In a crisis, these toys are often gripped tightly or used as pillows in ambulances and patrol cars. Keeping them 100% soft ensures there are no choking hazards or sharp edgesβ€”just pure comfort.

Here is the updated draft including a note about the pre-scheduled posts:

Headline: πŸ’™ A Quick Note to Our Guild Community πŸ’™

To all our wonderful members, vendors, and friends across the Guilds of Requiemβ€”we want to ask for a little bit of your grace and patience right now.

Our amazing social media manager is currently navigating some health-related difficulties. Because of this, active updates across all of our official guild pages may be a bit quieter or more delayed than usual over the coming weeks.

πŸ“Œ Please Note: You may still see some automated or pre-scheduled posts go live during this time, but our ability to respond to comments, messages, and real-time updates will be limited.

We love keeping you connected with everything happening in our community, but right now, supporting our team's health and well-being comes first.

Need immediate assistance? If you have urgent questions about onboarding, memberships, or upcoming events, please feel free to reach out directly via email at [email protected] or give us a call at 830-328-7130.

Thank you so much for your understanding, your kindness, and for being such a supportive community. Please join us in sending our manager the warmest wishes for a smooth recovery! 🌟

🧸 Become a "Hugs" Hub: Host a Donation Bin!
Looking for a meaningful way to support local first responders and bring a sense of safety to children in our community? We are looking for businesses, schools, and organizations to host an Operation: Teddy Bear Hugs donation bin!

While our primary campaign takes place every March, we are happy to partner with locations interested in hosting a bin year-round.

How to Get Started
Step 1: Reach Out – Email [email protected] or call/text 830-328-7130 to begin.

Step 2: Schedule Your Bin – We will coordinate a delivery or pick-up time for your donation station.

Step 3: Fill & Refresh – Once your bin is full of plush friends, contact us and we will handle the animal pick-up!

πŸ“ Service Area & Guidelines
To ensure we can manage logistics effectively, bin deliveries are currently restricted to:

Bandera County

Kendall County

Northwest side of Greater San Antonio

Outside these areas? You can still participate! If you are located outside our primary service zone, you are welcome to host a bin if you can pick it up from us and deliver the collected stuffed animals to our hub in Pipe Creek.

🌎 Expand the Mission
If you reside in Kendall, Kerr, Medina, or Real County and want to help facilitate this program for your local responders, we want to hear from you! Join our informational ZOOM meeting on the First Friday of every month at 7 PM Central Time (Meeting ID: 830 535 2022).

Help us ensure no child faces a crisis alone. Host a bin and help us spread the hugs!

So just what is our process when checking stuffed animals for usability? We made a short video showing we check each seam, check eyes and nose, check for hard parts, and anything else that could pose a hazard for small little hands.
