Thank you all for participating in a delicious and super fun community event! Special thanks to Gay for the amazing venue, and Ben L along with Kenny for the epic setup effort. And to Michelle for expertly handling the door. And to all of the judges and their immense patience.

Here’s a great recap From Julie C…. (Slightly paraphrased)

“That was delicious and FUN!
Many thanks most of all to each of the chili makers for sharing your recipes and long hot hours simmering all those chilis!

The winners:
Hillbilly Chili won by Jenny with her green New Mexican style “Frito Pie”chili flavored WITH THE FRITOS without being crunchy! Somehow she infused that flavor into the chili - SO GOOD!

Best Californian (Veggie) Won by Lara and Brent, otherwise known as local band Daytime Moon! Not only great musicians but great chili makers!

Their’s was the SPICIEST as well, good strategy because they were number 1
and my mouth was numb when I tasted the others.

The Pioneer award went to Paula who made a very meaty chili made with the most tender chucks of chuck roast. They must have simmered that pot for HOURS!
Nice touch, you could have it with or without beans - I went with.

And peoples choice: Vanessa’s Chili! BIRRIA STYLE!! It was the BOMB. Goat & beef
Alllll the flavor
Alllll the right toppings and soft corn tortilla on the side
😋😋😋
What a day of fun and food and community!!
YUMS ALL AROUND”

See you all next year!

Pi-Town Chili Throwdown!!

07/02/2018

Hiya Pioneertown Chili Throwdown friends! We're setting up and getting ready for the event on Wednesday! And we wanted to remind everyone that Blackbird Ranch is a private (not commercial) property, so it's BYOB! Bring a cooler!

Also, for those of you unfamiliar with Blackbird Ranch, here are detailed driving directions! From Pioneertown Rd, drive past Pappy & Harriet's, around the corner and down through the wash. As you come up out of the wash on Pioneertown Rd., you'll see a sign on the left before the curve. Make a left there at Keys Ranch Rd into the preserve (there is also a Blackbird Ranch sign), stay to the left onto Sage and follow it to the dead end. You will turn right into the gate and will see parking signs. Park all vehicles in the parking lot, and then follow the dirt road over to the big barn!🤠❤️🥣

Hi chili fans. I just wanted to show you where the event will be happening this year. Since the address and directions were posted there has been a ton of traffic on my road as well as onto my property. I'm going to ask that you please respect my privacy and do not come to the ranch unannounced before the day of the event. I am happy to open my home to y'all for the chili cookoff but I value my space and the No Trespassing signs are there for a reason. Thank you. See you on the 4th.
