Riverfront Common Area
We are pleased to announce that the Riverfront Common Area is now fully open to all members of the Community. In the more than 1-1/2 years that have elapsed since Hurricane Helene, we have been able to complete cleanups and repairs required to make the area stable and usable. Fences are up and the ramps and stairs that provide access to the river are now available. Please take note of the following:
Driving to and from the Common Area is via the Right of Way along private properties in the Riverfront section of the community. Vehicles and people must stay within the ROW and should not enter private properties for any unauthorized reasons, including parking or accessing the river. The Common Area starts at the end of the ROW, behind the newly installed split rail fence. Parking is located at the right side of the area as you pass the fence. A secondary split rail fence is located towards the back of the area. Motorized vehicles, including ATV's., Polaris, and motorcycles, are not allowed to pass that secondary fence.
Please use caution in the common area. Some debris might still be present in the area, buried underground under dirt and silt carried by the river rushing waters during the hurricane. We continue to remove any such debris when found. Please notify the Board via email should you identify any debris or other safety concerns.
The authorities have warned people that the riverbed might still harbor dangerous debris, including glass, sharp metal, or contaminants buried under rocks and sand, so anyone entering the river does so at their own risk and should take appropriate precautions.
Road Repairs
In the next several weeks, our vendor will be completing some road repairs, including application of asphalt to a large portion of road in the riverfront section of the community. Several other areas are also being repaired. Traffic might be affected during some of the work. Please take precautions when driving around work areas.
