That’s not just a statistic. That’s our neighbors. Our coworkers. Our friends. Our family members. Domestic violence does not discriminate by age, income, background, or community. It happens behind closed doors, often in silence — and far too often without support. During Women’s History Month, we honor the women who fought for stronger protections, survivor rights, and coordinated systems of care. But we also recognize that the work continues.

At the Family Justice Center of Cenla, we are committed to standing with survivors — providing advocacy, safety planning, legal support, and access to critical services in one place. If you or someone you know is experiencing abuse, you are not alone. Help is available.

📞 If you are in immediate danger, call 911.

This Women’s History Month, we honor Tarana Burke, founder of the Me Too movement — a movement rooted in empathy, empowerment, and survivor support. Long before the hashtag went viral, Tarana Burke was doing the work on the ground — creating safe spaces for survivors of sexual violence to share their stories and heal. Her message was simple but powerful: You are not alone.

Because of her leadership, millions of survivors found the courage to speak up. Conversations around sexual violence, accountability, and systemic change moved from whispers to global dialogue. At the Family Justice Center of Cenla, we see every day how powerful it is when survivors are believed, supported, and surrounded by services that prioritize their safety and healing.

Two words can change a life: Me Too. We honor the women who create movements — and the survivors whose voices fuel them. 💜

Women’s History Month is a time to celebrate progress — and to acknowledge the work that remains. When it comes to domestic violence, the statistics remind us why advocacy, prevention, and survivor support matter. Behind every statistic is a person — a mother, daughter, sister, friend — who deserves safety, dignity, and support.

At the Family Justice Center of Cenla, we are committed to continuing the work of the women who paved the way before us — ensuring survivors in Central Louisiana have access to protection, advocacy, and hope.

If you or someone you know needs help, support is available.
