Memberships are Rolling Off the Presses
This week we processed 15 new and renewal memberships! People are figuring out that a membership is valuable for their entire family and a great way to support the Nature Center on an ongoing basis. Once we sell the income property next door, memberships will be a key to paying our bills every month.
You want special discounts on store merchandise, right? What about free admission to educational programming? Not to mention members only days for the Raptor Show and priority seating for any other day you choose to experience raptors flying over you. So this may be just the time to sign up as a member. Individual $40, Family $60, and Business $100.

More Trees Please!
We have continued work on the giant diorama project with trees and taxidermy animals. It is on the north mezzanine of the Nature Center's big room. As you can see, painting of the wall behind the diorama is coming along. We need more real looking trees. As you can see we are a dozen short of a forest. If your tree has seen better days, and you are getting a new one, then donate the old tree to us! Or, just bite the bullet & buy a new tree for the Center. Several retailers with trees are offering big discounts starting December 26th. We saw an impressive display of artificial trees at Lowe's yesterday. Their "After Christmas Discount" sign is ready to go!
You will be absolutely amazed when this project is done. It will be another Nature Center draw for families - with an interactive real-world component that is being developed now. Someone described it as Disney meets Cabela's. Drop off your tree any Wed, Thr, Fri, or Sat from Noon - 4:30.

NEW Raptor Training Tickets!
Beginning on January 2nd, tickets for the Raptor Show will look like this. The tickets cost $2.50 per person. Children 12 and under are FREE! We have done extensive surveys, and both people surveyed said they would gladly pay $2.50 for the training exhibition. That is 100% of the people surveyed, so we are doing it. If you want to reserve space for January, you can go to www.wmnature.org - look under Raptor Show. You will see two choices 2024 and 2025 Tickets. Guess which one you should choose for January? Make sure you have a ticket for everyone in your group including the kids.

February 8th ~ Save the date!
Arizona’s bald eagles are back, and they will soon be preparing for the next generation of eagles at breeding sites statewide. As of this newsletter 119 eagle eggs have been counted statewide.
To assist with the state’s continued bald eagle population growth, the Arizona Game and Fish Department (AZGFD) encourages outdoor recreationists, aircraft pilots, drone operators and motorized paragliders to do their part by not disturbing the state’s 104 eagle breeding areas.
To protect breeding attempts, some portions of public land and water areas will be temporarily closed to help these majestic animals and ensure more young eagles take to the sky in spring.

We've Got Mail AND Water!
Fortunately they are not in the same container!
The first mail came in on Wednesday to our brand new mailbox. We were so excited! One flyer, a Christmas card, a donation check, and a new membership! Awesome! Just in case you haven't had time to send your donation, the new mailing address is: 425 S. Woodland Rd, Lakeside, AZ 85929
The very next day, our connection to AZ Water was completed and we were able to disconnect from the well next door. That paves the way for selling the industrial properties

Mortgage Burning & We**ie Roast!
We paid off the mortgage on 425 S Woodland Rd. (the main Nature Center property), so we are doing the right thing and having a mortgage burning and we**ie roast to celebrate the occasion. December 28th at 5 PM. Bring your lawn chair, a stick or something to hold your dog, and a big smile on your face! Donate a few bucks for some hot dogs, buns, and condiments plus hot chocolate to drink. It might be a bit chilly, so bundle up!

Trench Destroys Pollinator Garden!

Just Kidding, Garden is Safe...
Trenches are being dug to connect the Nature Center to the AZ Water Company meter that is at the front of the property. This will allow us to disconnect from the well that is located on the parcel that we are selling. We were very careful to plan the route for the trenches to miss the Pollinator Garden and memorial trees.
