💃🕺 THURSDAYS ARE FOR DANCING AT NINA HARRIS ESE! 🎶🎉💙

What a way to celebrate another amazing week of Summer School! ☀️🌴

Today our students turned up the music and turned up the FUN! 🎵✨ From breaking out of those wheelchairs to hitting the dance floor, playing bumper walkers 🚶‍♂️💥🚶‍♀️, chasing friends around the gym 😄🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️, and showing off their best dance moves 💃🕺, the smiles were absolutely contagious!

There is nothing better than seeing our students laughing, moving, socializing, and enjoying every moment with their friends and staff. ❤️ These are the memories that make Summer School so special!

A long week of learning deserves a celebration, and our students definitely know how to PARTY! 🎉🎶🥳

💙✨ Staff Spotlight: Celebrating an Extraordinary Educator ✨💙

Today, we are shining a spotlight on one of the true gems of Nina Harris ESE, Jessie Brown!

For years, Jessie has served as our incredible ESE Teacher and Technology Specialist, dedicating her heart, creativity, and expertise to ensuring that every student has access to the tools they need to communicate, learn, and thrive. Her impact reaches far beyond the classroom walls.

Every day, Jessie works tirelessly to make sure our students have technology at their fingertips that allows them to participate fully in their learning environments and engage meaningfully with their peers. Whether she is troubleshooting devices, programming communication systems, or designing adaptive equipment, her focus is always on empowering students to reach their fullest potential.

What makes Jessie truly remarkable is her ability to see possibilities where others see limitations. She creates and designs adaptive devices that allow students to access toys, learning materials, and experiences that might otherwise be out of reach. Through her innovation and dedication, she opens doors and creates opportunities for countless students and families.

And her impact doesn’t stop there.

Recently, Jessie was recognized for her groundbreaking work in the Alzheimer’s field. She developed a program designed to help individuals living with Alzheimer’s connect more meaningfully with their caregivers and loved ones. Her work is changing lives, strengthening relationships, and demonstrating the power of technology to bring people together.

Jessie embodies what it means to be an educator, innovator, advocate, and difference-maker. We are incredibly fortunate to have her as part of the Nina Harris family and grateful for the countless ways she enriches the lives of our students, families, and community.

Jessie Brown says watching her own father live with Alzheimer's gave her the idea for a new company that would bridge the gap between caregiver and patient; she calls it Catalyst 4 Connections.

🌞🐬⚾ What an AMAZING day in Summer School yesterday! ⚾🐬🌞

Our students were treated to not one, but TWO incredible special programs!

First, we welcomed educators from the Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium, where students learned all about Florida’s amazing marine wildlife, including manatees and dolphins. The hands-on experience was a huge hit! Students had the opportunity to touch manatee and dolphin teeth and even use their fingers to feel what manatee whiskers are like. Learning comes alive when students can explore and experience it firsthand!

We also had the opportunity to “Play Ball” Collie style! 🐕⚽ The laughter was nonstop as students worked together to keep the ball inside the circle while the energetic dogs dribbled, chased, and used their noses to bump the ball out. It was exciting, interactive, and so much fun to watch!

Days like these create unforgettable memories while providing unique learning experiences for our students. We are so grateful for the organizations and volunteers who help make Summer School such a special place to learn, play, and grow! ❤️☀️

🌞🎉 First Week of Summer School = SUCCESS! 🎉🌞

Our first week of Summer School is officially in the books, and what an amazing week it was! Our students have done a fantastic job adjusting to their new routines and schedules, and they jumped right into learning and fun with smiles on their faces.

The beautiful weather gave us the perfect opportunity to enjoy outdoor recess on the playgrounds. One of the most heartwarming sights was watching our students out of their wheelchairs, soaring on the swings, feeling the sunshine and loving the wind in their hair! 💙☀️

We wrapped up the week in style with a school-wide dance and ice cream social! 🍦🕺💃 The laughter, music, dancing, and sweet treats made for the perfect ending to a wonderful first week.

Here’s to an incredible summer filled with learning, friendships, and unforgettable memories! ❤️💛 🌪️☀️🍦

There is nothing more powerful than seeing PURE JOY shine through the smile of a student who feels proud of her accomplishments! 💙💛🏅

Today we celebrated one of our amazing students as she proudly “won” — or rather EARNED — her medal for being an active member of Student Council this school year! The excitement, happiness, and pride on her face reminded us exactly why we do what we do every single day at Nina Harris.

Her dedication, participation, leadership, and positive spirit helped make our school community stronger all year long. Moments like this are about so much more than a medal… they are about confidence, belonging, achievement, and celebrating success in a BIG way! ✨
