Star the mini therapy horse has had some wonderful visits with amazing results over the past 2 weeks. One elderly lady who can hardly see and as the director said doesnt even try to speak. I brought Star close so she could focus on her, she started to pet , then hug her, then she started to try to say something, all of a sudden clear as a bell she said "I love her" the staff was amazed. At another facility the director asked me to take Star into a room, there was a nurse next to a womens bedside. She had white hair and was pale but she was very well taken care of with her hands tucked under the sheets. As I approached with Star I asked what her name was and if she could move her hands. They said she can move but... I had to get Star right in front of where she was staring. She saw Star and started to grin, I asked her if she wanted to pet her........her hands started wiggling under the covers, so I uncovered her arms and she reached up and with both arms outstretched was petting & hugging Star. . Everyone was next to tears. Today we visited a man and his wife was in the room. He was looking at the floor, kind of looked up but didnt look at anything, just staring off. His wife was so excited, so I knew she was on board:) I kept moving Star to where his eyes were, he finally saw her...and we got a grin. his wife was so happy...I asked him did you see her shoes, so the wife started asking him that and pointed to the shoes...Oh my gosh - he literally laughed out load. The wife jumped up and gave me a huge hug. It was beautiful. STARS VISITS ARE MORE THAN A SMALL HORSE WALKING INTO A ROOM- THEY ARE MORE LIKE CHRISTMAS MORNING TO A CHILD.
