Our Foundation

Founded by board-certified neuropsychologist Dr. Karen D. Sullivan and a group of deeply committed community advocates, Still Us will take shape as a working farm and first-of-its-kind campus serving as a local and international hub for progressive dementia care. More than a program site, the Still Us Sanctuary will be a permanent home for a new standard of care. Investment in this place establishes both the physical and symbolic foundation for transforming the lived experience of dementia for generations to come. By reducing the cognitive demands of everyday life and returning to our shared home in nature, we create bridges back to belonging, purpose, and respite. These experiences restore what dementia too often disrupts. By uplifting the entire dementia care circle, we can begin to change our relationship to one of the world’s most feared conditions.

Thank you to all of our AMAZING volunteers who came out for first work day in our Still Contributing Garden at Sandhills/Moore Coalition for Human Care. Dirt was moved, seeds and plants were planted, and fun was had, so much fun that we are planning another Garden Work Day this SATURDAY, JUNE 6 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. We'd love for you to join us!

Special thanks to our friends with the Coalition and 4H Program for all of their help!

If care partners would like to bring a loved one with brain change to work in our new Still Contributing Garden, or if you would like to volunteer, we’d love to have you join in the fun, fellowship and gardening work to transform our new raised beds, generously donated by Sandhills/Moore Coalition for Human Care.

We have 19 raised beds to plant and maintain, located at 1500 W. Indiana Ave., Southern Pines. Parking is available at the Coalition and also along Indiana Ave.

Restroom facilities are onsite and available. Dress appropriately for the weather and working in the garden, and stay for as little or as long as you wish.

What to bring:
Gardening tools
Any plants you’d like to plant
Water bottle (we will have coolers and water available)
A smile and your helping hands
