What if some of the suffering associated with dementia comes not from neurodegeneration itself, but from how we understand and respond to it?

Drawing on neuroscience, clinical neuropsychology, and community-based research, board certified neuropsychologist, Karen Sullivan PhD, ABPP explores the distinction between cognitive decline and human decline. She introduces the Still Us framework, a relationship-centered approach that emphasizes preserved capacities, personhood, and the need for relational interventions. Through innovative programs in Moore County, including the new Sanctuary Days pilot program, she demonstrates how scientific insights can be translated into measurable, community-level changes that change the lived experience of dementia.
