Remember Dhanya? ❤️

Just a few weeks ago, Dhanya was brought to us from Dhangadhi after being found lying helpless on the street, extremely emaciated and unable to move her back legs. Her wounds were crawling with maggots, and X-rays revealed a fractured vertebra that had left her paralyzed.

Today, Dhanya is doing so much better. ❤️ She has already gained 3 kg, her wounds are completely healed, she has been vaccinated, and she receives physical therapy every day. She is definitely more mobile than when she arrived, although she still cannot walk—and sadly, she may never walk again.

Our wonderful friends at Dog Tag Nepal have donated a wheelchair for her, which we are so grateful for. Thank you 🙏 ❤️ She also has her own orthopedic bed to keep her comfortable and help prevent pressure sores.

Dhanya still needs to gain more weight, continue her vaccinations and physical therapy, and be spayed when she is ready. But overall, our girl is doing incredibly well.

Thank you to everyone who donated toward Dhanya’s care. She still has a journey ahead of her, but she is safe, comfortable and surrounded by people who will continue fighting for her. ❤️🐾

This poor street dog was suffering with a terrible wound through the bridge of his nose. Infection was pouring from the open hole in his face, and he desperately needed help.

He was three hours away from us in Dhangadhi. But when an animal needs us, distance doesn’t matter. We go. We always go. We leave no animal without help.

Jivin was one of three dogs we rescued that evening, bringing all three on the long journey back to our clinic. Despite everything he was going through, he was friendly and trusting, allowing us to help him and finally get him somewhere safe.

At our clinic, we immediately began cleaning the wound and treating the severe infection. Our initial suspicion was soon confirmed.
Jivin has CTVT — a transmissible canine cancer. The cancer involves his mouth and nasal cavity, along with a severe infection that has broken through the bridge of his snout. Thankfully, Jivin is still strong. Right now, we are fighting the infection with antibiotics. Once we have it under control, he will begin chemotherapy to fight the cancer.

Jivin is just one of so many animals relying on us. Soltis’ Hope is the only animal rescue in this entire region able to provide this level of medical treatment, and the area we serve is enormous. Every day, animals are depending on us to answer the call, travel the distance, bring them back to our clinic and give them the treatment they simply cannot receive anywhere else.

But we cannot keep doing it without your help. Please donate toward Jivin’s treatment and the many other animals currently depending on our clinic. You may remember little Monika, the street puppy who was still living beside her mama when we rescued her with a badly broken leg. X-rays revealed a severely displaced fracture of her humerus, and Monika was taken into surgery to repair the fracture with a plate.

It has now been two weeks since her surgery, and we are so happy with how well she is doing.

Monika spent those first two weeks on complete crate rest, and her surgical wound has now almost completely healed. Best of all, she has started putting weight on her injured leg.

She is now being allowed out for short periods to spend a little time with the other dogs, although we still have to make sure she takes things slowly for the next few weeks.

Monika is eating well, she’s happy, and her recovery is progressing just as we hoped. If everything continues this way, we expect that over the next month she’ll be back to running, playing, and getting into mischief like any other puppy.

She really is the sweetest little girl.

Thank you to everyone who helped towards Monika’s surgery and care. We rescue sick and injured animals every day, and your support allows us to keep saying yes when the next one needs us. We simply couldn’t do it without you.

Almost every inch of his body told the story of how long he had been suffering.

His skin was crusted, bleeding and painfully inflamed, with raw wounds and secondary infection covering a body already weakened by starvation and severe dehydration. This was Rudra when we found him.

His mange was severe. This is what can happen when a street dog suffers from mange for far too long without treatment—the mites take over, the skin becomes terribly inflamed and damaged, and secondary infection sets in. Rudra was extremely emaciated and dehydrated, and he was also very frightened.

It wasn’t easy to catch him and bring him back for treatment. He didn’t understand that we were there to help, but we knew we couldn’t leave him behind in this condition. Once Rudra was safely back at our sanctuary clinic, we sedated him so our team could properly clean his damaged skin and wounds without causing him further fear or distress.

Rudra is now receiving medication to treat the mange and secondary infection, along with wound care, fluids, good nutrition and all the supportive care his exhausted body needs. His recovery will take time, but he no longer has to face it alone.

Please help us continue Rudra’s treatment. We are caring for so many sick and injured street animals, and the cost of medications, veterinary care, food and supplies never stops. We have received so many messages, emails and comments asking if our sanctuary, animals and rescue team are safe. Thank you to every single person who has reached out. ❤️

We want to reassure everyone that we are safe. Solti’s Hope is located in Gulariya, Bardiya, in Western Nepal, with our rescue work extending throughout other regions of Western Nepal. We are far from the area currently affected by this devastating disaster.

Our hearts are with the families who have lost loved ones, those still searching for the missing, and every community whose lives have been changed by this tragedy.

We are also thinking of the countless animals caught in the disaster — those who may have survived and are now injured, displaced, frightened and in desperate need of help.

We are grateful to see animal welfare organisations closer to the affected region already preparing to mobilise and assist with animal rescue efforts. To everyone heading into these devastated areas to search, rescue and care for both people and animals — please stay safe.

Nepal is our home. Today, our hearts are with all those affected. 🇳🇵❤️

His ear was severely injured, infected, and literally being eaten alive. How long had he been wandering the streets like this, waiting for help to come?

Blood stained the side of his face, his body and his paws. His ear had been torn apart, and infection and maggots had taken over. We received a late-night call about a street dog who was suffering and desperately needed help.

Sadly, we see injuries like this far too often. Shiwa had been bitten by another dog, leaving terrible wounds around his ear. Street dogs simply can’t properly clean or care for injuries in this area themselves. Infection sets in, flies find the open wound, and before long, maggots can take over.

We brought him straight back to our sanctuary clinic, where our veterinarian immediately began cleaning his ear and removing the maggots, infection and dead tissue.

A wound this severe takes time to heal. It can take weeks to months, with repeated wound cleaning and dressing, medication, good nutrition and daily care.

Unfortunately, we know Shiwa won’t be the last. Mating season is approaching, and with it comes more fighting, more bites, more infected wounds and more emergency calls. Right now, we are running desperately low on medication.

We need to replenish the medications and wound-care supplies that allow us to treat dogs like Shiwa and those who will come after him. When that late-night call came for Shiwa, we were able to say yes. Please help us make sure that when the next call comes, we can still say yes.

UPDATE 🐾 Udit
Udit is the frightened street dog we rescued from deep inside a drainage tunnel, trapped in filthy water with an injured hind leg. X-rays revealed a femoral head fracture, while bloodwork showed tick-borne disease and severe anemia. He was also already underweight, and his body was simply not strong enough for orthopedic surgery, so our priority was treating the disease and anemia and helping him become stronger.

Several weeks later, we have some wonderful news. ❤️ While we were treating Udit, his femoral head fracture began to fuse and heal on its own. The healing isn’t anatomically perfect, but he walks very well on the leg, it causes him no pain, and he no longer needs surgery!

Udit is also recovering very well from the tick-borne disease and anemia. Tick-borne disease can cause weakness, poor appetite and weight loss, taking a tremendous toll on the body. Now that Udit is recovering, our next goal is to help him gain several kilograms and rebuild his strength with good nutrition and continued care.

From trapped, injured and sick to walking comfortably and growing stronger, Udit has come such a long way. ❤️ Thank you to everyone who donated toward his rescue and medical care. We will keep you updated as his recovery continues.

This is the reality of being born a street puppy. Your leg is broken, but you still have to walk. You’re hungry, so you still have to search for food. There is no one responsible for making sure you’re safe or getting you to a veterinarian. You simply keep going because you have no other choice.

We received a call about a small puppy wandering alone just five minutes from our sanctuary in Gulariya. She was struggling badly with one of her hind legs, and there was no mother anywhere around. While we arranged transport to our clinic, we gave her food, and this poor little puppy was absolutely starving.

Back at our clinic, our veterinarians examined her carefully, and despite everything she had been through, Kavi was the sweetest little patient. She allowed us to examine and palpate her injured leg without complaint, almost as though she understood that these strange new people were finally trying to help her.

A fracture was immediately diagnosed, and X-rays confirmed a complete break that would not heal correctly without surgical intervention. Kavi needed plating surgery, and the very next day she was taken into surgery. Her broken bone was carefully aligned and stabilized with a plate, and thankfully, the operation went beautifully.

Kavi now needs time, rest and good nutrition while that little bone heals. Being so young is very much on her side, and we are hopeful she will make a wonderful recovery.

And just look at that face. 💗 No more searching for food on a broken leg. Kavi is safe, her belly is full, her fracture has been repaired, and she is now one of our Solti’s Hope babies.
