❄️🐾 WINTER 2026–2027: YES, WE’RE PREPARING ALREADY 🐾❄️
Because if we wait until it’s cold… it’s already too late. And nobody — not you, not me, and definitely not our animals — wants to be scrambling for blankets when the snow is already falling sideways.

So we’re gonna break it down for you every day we take care of 78 cats and 66 dogs that is 66 blankets a day now if the dog destroys the blanket add another blanket, that is 462 blankets a week we do laundry, but we can’t wash something that was destroyed so we sometimes we have to throw the blanket away. So here’s what we’re gathering NOW before winter sneaks up on us like a cat at 3 AM:

🛏️ DOG BEDS THAT ARE OFF THE GROUND

Our animals have made it clear:
Concrete = rude.
Raised beds = luxury.

We’ll be uploading a Kuranda bed link soon for anyone who wants to buy the dogs brand‑new Kuranda beds — they last forever, they’re shelter‑proof, and the dogs act like they’re checking into a tiny hotel.

BUT we also use those daycare‑style stackable child cots because they come in bulk, they’re cost‑efficient, and they keep everyone up off the cold floor. If you have any you’re not using, we’ll happily take them.

🧺 BLANKETS, SHEETS & COZY THINGS

We are collecting:

• Quilts
• Blankets
• Comforters
• Flat sheets
• Fitted sheets (we snip the elastic corners and boom — instant flat sheet)
• Sleeping bags (we remove the zipper so no one eats it)

A few “shelter rules” from experience:

🐶 No heated blankets — dogs chew the coils, and we’re not trying to fund surprise vet visits.
🐱 Crocheted blankets — great for cats, NOT for dogs. Dogs get their paws stuck… and their heads stuck… and sometimes their entire personality stuck.
🛏️ Sleeping bags — yes, please. Once we de‑zipper them, they’re perfect.

If it’s clean, not holy, not shredded, and not hiding a heating coil — we’ll take it.
❄️ WHY WE’RE DOING THIS NOW

Because it’s better to have it and not need it than to be freezing in December wishing we’d started sooner.
And because our animals deserve warmth, comfort, and a soft place to curl up — not cold concrete and dramatic shivering performances.

Our boy LOKI — yes, THE Loki, the Doxy–Pug–Mystery-Meatball Mix — has officially packed his tiny suitcase, signed his freedom papers, and strutted his way into his FOREVER HOME.

These two beloved cats bolted in fear during the fire and have not been located. They are scared, confused, and out of their home — and their family is desperate to get them back.

🔥 In chaotic emergencies like this, animals often run until they find a hiding spot.
🔥 They may not come when called.
🔥 They may be silently hunkered down nearby.

Traps are set, but there have been no sightings, so we need the community’s eyes and hearts on this.

Yes, they are a bonded pair. They’ve been together for the last 15 years. We are not breaking them up.

If you’ve ever wondered which dogs make our staff stop mid‑task, drop everything, and go “MY GIRLS!!!” — it’s these two. Coco & Chanel aren’t just shelter dogs… they’re the kind of dogs we’d take home ourselves if we had even one spare inch of space left. That’s how special they are.

These senior ladies are:

✔️ Loving
✔️ Bonded
✔️ Perfect
✔️ And yes… absolute employee favorites

If you remember their story, Coco & Chanel were failed by humans long before they found us. Dumped in the mountains of Pittman — skinny, hungry, confused, and completely lost — until a kind woman found them and brought them to safety. And from that moment on, these girls have done nothing but give love, trust, and gratitude.

Now they’re healthy, happy, glowing, and ready for the soft retirement home they deserve. 🥹💛

Here’s the truth:
