Pine City Hilltop Recreation Area Improvement Project

Pine City Hilltop Recreation Area Improvement Project This 4 phase project has been 2+ years in the making. The old "warming house" wasn't quite meeting the needs of the community so it will be removed soon.

It all started with some discussions on how to improve the outdoor ice conditions and it developed into how we could come together as a community to make the entire area better, for year-round use. In its place will be a multi-use facility that will house park maintenance & recreation program equipment, bathrooms, concessions, locker rooms and a lobby area. This facility will be open to the public

so when youth soccer, youth flag-football and youth hockey rent out the park for their organized sports, they'll have facilities to meet their ever growing program needs. Additionally, the park has some drainage issues for the spring and fall sports so we'll be regrading the park so that the water drains to the storm-water system. This will hopefully help our littlest soccer players get more field time in the spring, because they tend to get cancelled with every bit of rain. But what about the skating rinks? We hope to start using impervious liners to hold the water in place to preserve the City's water supply and be good stewards of this resource. The new facility will also be able to house the ice resurfacing machine so the ice can be maintained more easily. Eventually, we will install sidewalks throughout the park and concrete within one of the boarded rinks so that the park will be fully accessible and the park can be used between soccer & flag football for PICKLEBALL!

It is time! They are here!! The dasher boards for the new concrete ice hockey rink at the Hilltop Recreation Area are being delivered this Friday morning. We need the communities help installing them.

The work will not be complicated, there is just a lot of it. Volunteers can be anyone 10 years of age and older and they don’t have to be involved in hockey. They should wear boots and be ready to work in any temperate and any kind of precipitation.

Please come show your Pine City community pride to help improve the Hilltop Recreation area. .

We need 40 plus volunteers this Friday from 8am to 5pm.

VOLUNTEERS HONORED AT HILLTOP RECREATION AREA

Supporters and volunteers have poured generous donations and thousands of hours of volunteer labor into transforming Hilltop Park, and now it's time to celebrate.

The community is invited to check out all the new amenities at the newly-renamed Hilltop Recreation Area at an open house on Wednesday, Jan. 19 from 4-6 p.m.

Pine City Parks and Rec Director Stacy O'Rourke said the open house is especially to recognize the people behind the building on the site known as the "Warming House" - a brand new multiuse building with a lobby, four locker rooms, and flush bathrooms.

"It's a really great space, and we want to show off all the work that Pine City Youth Hockey and all the many volunteers involved in this project have done," O'Rourke said. "These volunteers do incredible work, and we're so thankful for them."

She said the project would never have happened without the ideas, support, and hard work coming from Pine City Youth Hockey.

Come see all the hard work that has already taken place!
