The Always Ambitious Alpha Chi Sigma Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., located in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, proudly honors our notable soror, Hattie McDaniel, the trailblazing, Oscar-winning actress who passed away from breast cancer.

This October, we encourage ALL MEN AND WOMEN to take charge of their health, schedule recommended screenings, and learn the importance of early detection.

🎀 AGE 40 AND BEYOND: MAKE SCREENINGS A PRIORITY! 🎀

💕 Schedule your recommended screenings.

Early detection can save lives! Breast cancer can affect both women and men, and staying informed about your health matters.

🐩💙💛 OCTOBER IS ADOPT A SHELTER DOG MONTH! 💛💙🐩

The ladies of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., The Always Ambitious Alpha Chi Sigma Alumnae Chapter, located in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, want to remind everyone that animals need our love, care, and compassion, too! 💙💛

Our mascot is the beautiful poodle, and we believe in showing love to all animals, especially those waiting for their forever homes. 🐾💕

Here are a few ways you can make a difference this month:

🐶 Visit your local animal shelter and spend time with the dogs.

🐶 Consider adopting a furry friend in need of a loving home.

🐶 Donate dog food, treats, blankets, toys, or other needed supplies to your local shelter.

🐶 Spread the word about dogs available for adoption.

Every act of kindness matters, and even the smallest gesture can make a big difference in an animal’s life. Let's show our four-legged friends the love they deserve! 🐾❤️

The Always Ambitious Alpha Chi Sigma Alumnae Chapter had the pleasure of attending our Annual Area 1 Meeting! It was a wonderful opportunity to reconnect, recharge, refocus, and reimagine all that is possible for our sisterhood and service in the year ahead.

We are leaving inspired, motivated, and ready to continue the work of Greater Service, Greater Progress! As we continue to grow, strengthen, and pour into our sisterhood, we remain committed to making an impact in our communities.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

This month, we honor those whose lives have been impacted by breast cancer, including our beloved Soror Hattie McDaniel, who passed away from breast cancer in 1952 at the age of 57.

In her honor and memory, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. established the Hattie McDaniel Cancer Awareness and Health Program. The program was created to promote education, encourage early detection of breast, prostate, ovarian, colon, and other cancers, and support research focused on cancer prevention.

Today, this work has evolved into the Women’s Wellness Initiative, empowering chapters to address health issues that disproportionately impact women, particularly women of color.

We celebrate breast cancer survivors and honor their strength while working diligently to raise awareness and help create a future with more survivors.
