ACT-SO (Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological, and Scientific Olympics) is a program sponsored by the NAACP that recognizes academic achievements of students. It is the largest program of its kind for African American youth. Since the mid 1970's ACT-SO has attracted over 250,000 young people who have participated in its national competitions and tens of thousands more in local competitions held annually around the country. Your Pine Bluff NAACP held its competitions in April 2023. Dozens of volunteers participated as judges and contestants were awarded gold medals in music, visual arts, short story, and poetry written. These awardees will represent Pine Bluff at the NAACP National Competitions in July 2023 in Boston MA. The Pine Bluff ACT-SO Committee is engaged in fundraising for this trip to Boston and need your support. Please join our 'Circle of Friends' campaign by giving $50 or more to help pay for travel expenses, which include meals, lodging for 5 days, and airline tickets for 4 contestants and two chaperones. We need 150 people or more to contribute $50. Please see the attached flyer for more information. Thank you for your support,
