How exciting to celebrate our country's 250th birthday on Flag Day! Join the Pinckneyville spirit and decorate your yard or residence for the celebration on June 14th. The garden club will have a table set-up where the festivities will be happening (the green lawn across from the Community Center) to make patriotic seed bombs. See you in your red, white and blue!🇺🇸

I totally forgot to thank these two gals for showing up in the rain on Arbor Day to plant trees! Thank you, Mary Stanton and Belinda Schubert, for all you do to better our community!! Along with many, many other quiet community warriors who care about Pinckneyville, I think of this quote: “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not.

Some great takeaways about Ponds and Rain Gardens from our presenter, Karen Glynn. Aquatic plants are categorized by their growth habits into floating, submergent, emergent, and marginal types, which are essential for balancing pond, lake, and water garden ecosystems. They provide habitat for wildlife and oxygenate water. Tonight, we learned how to build more than just a garden – we learned how to create a living, breathing ecosystem that invites wildlife and naturally filters itself.

And, no photos, but our dessert tonight was made with a secret ingredient for the banana pudding made by Glenna Pfau. Super yummy!

It’s first Thursday! 🌻 Time for our monthly Garden Club meet-up. See you all at 6 PM at the Community Center for plants, chat, and good company! Our presenter will be Karen Glynn. She is a Master Gardener who will speak to us about aquatic plants for home water features. See you tonight!

The Pinckneyville Garden Club would like to extend a huge thank you to the community for their amazing support of our plant sale. We are pleased to announce that the event generated over $1,000.00 in sales. We are excited to continue our efforts to beautify the community and provide scholarships to local students. We would also like to express our gratitude to Murphy-Wall Bank for allowing us to use their parking lot for the plant sale. Additionally, we appreciate the support of both Murphy-Wall and First National Bank, who advertised our event on their digital signs. Thank you to the Pinckneyville Press for advertising as well. Finally, we would like to thank Keith Simpson of Heritage Nationwide Exposition Services for his generous donation of time and materials to create our sign.
