Curt Orlowski Memorial

Curt Orlowski Memorial Taken far too young, Curt Orlowski was killed by a drunk driver on July 3, 2014. All proceeds are split evenly between Curt and Dakota's Memorial Funds.

The Curt Orlowski Memorial and Scholarship Fund were created by his family in 2014. The summer before his sophomore year at Northwood University, Curt and his friend Dakota Gonzales were working at University of Michigan. The afternoon of July 3rd the boys, traveling home after work, were struck and killed by a drunk driver. Curt's family has since started the Curt Orlowski Memorial Scholarship wh

ich gives out three $1,000 scholarships to Tecumseh High School graduating seniors each year. The Tecumseh, MI community was so incredibly generous with their time, kindness, and money, the Orlowski Family decided to found the Curt Orlowski Memorial Scholarship Fund. Dakota Gonzales' family also started a Memorial Fund in Dakota's name, and throughout the year the families put on fundraising events.

Thank you Pinckney High School for including me in this amazing event! Your Prom Night Drunk Driving Reenactment is very impactful. It covered the crash, extrication of victims both living and deceased, rescue/ambulance & morgue.
Everyone was incredibly welcoming & the students were engaged & respectful.
Thank you for letting me share about Curt; the young man he was and the dangers of driving drunk, drugged or distracted. Choices have consequences.
YOU ALL MATTER.

We were invited back to Addison High School to speak to the Jr & Sr class prior to them attending prom tomorrow night. We shared about Curt… how the choices by a teenage drunk driver changed the lives of many people, how Curt’s death was 100% preventable, how choices have consequences, how kind Curt was, how deeply he’s missed & how every life matters.
The students were very courteous & attentive. They were all surprised how difficult it was to drive the pedal cars while wearing the impairment goggles. Even the Principal tried it.
Please never drink & drive!

Donate Life!
April is National Donate Life Month! This year’s theme uses trees as a symbol of life and connection. Just as trees grow and support each other in a forest, donation connects people – donors, recipients, and their families. Like a tree that grows and stands for generations, a donor’s gift leaves a lasting legacy of hope and life.

April is National Donate Life Month, which features an entire month of activities to help encourage people to register as organ, eye and tissue donors and to honor those who have given the ultimate gift through donation.

From celebrating living donors to Blue and Green Spirit Week and everything in between, we encourage you to follow along this month and share the lifesaving impact of organ, eye and tissue donation 💙💚

Thank you to the LISD TECH Center for inviting us again this year to speak to students about drunk driving awareness & to share a little bit about Curt. We had several students approach us afterward & express their thanks (& sorrow) that we were there. Some shared stories of their own with us. Spring break begins today & we encouraged them to have fun, make memories, have a plan in place before they head out, watch out for each other & to make good choices.
