Pilot Point’s Nineteenth Century Club has a new president, Kate Major, and a few exciting changes ahead.

For over a century, the club has served the community in numerous ways, surviving World Wars, the Great Depression and other significant points in history to continue its mission.

“When you go to see old pictures of Pilot Point, [the] Nineteenth Century Club was probably there too,” Kate said.

The Nineteenth Century Club of Pilot Point is so proud that we got to collaborate with other nonprofits and City of Pilot Point to celebrate “Pilot Point Celebrates America’s 250!” with our community!

🏫 74 YEARS AGO TODAY — April 29, 1951

This article ran in the Denton Record-Chronicle on this exact date 74 years ago!

Pilot Point was buzzing with excitement — the brand new $200,000 high school was completed and ready to be dedicated, and the whole community was rolling out the welcome mat for hundreds of former residents, families, and friends coming back to town!

The celebration was set up as a giant homecoming and Decoration Day program with something for everyone. The day kicked off at noon with a basket lunch at the school — guests brought their own picnic baskets while the hostesses from the Nineteenth Century Club furnished coffee, tea, paper plates, cups, and forks. At 1 p.m. a formal program was held in the new school auditorium where school board members and the superintendent were introduced to the crowd.

But the festivities didn't stop there. Local churches and organizations planned special welcomes for visitors, the Pilot Point Fire Department held open house during the afternoon, and informal tours were conducted all over town to show off the many new homes, businesses, churches — and the old landmarks that made Pilot Point, Pilot Point.

A $200,000 high school in 1951 was a massive investment for a small community. This was Pilot Point putting its flag in the ground and saying: we believe in our future.

Several of our Club members packed 20 Lovepacs Snack Bag Packs at our recent Club meeting, plus had extras from those who attended🤗
Gloria Huerta from Lovepacs helped us with the pack.

We crowned our 2026 Valentine King & Queen at our Annual Valentine's Party that was held at Avir at Pilot Point (formerly, Pilot Point Care Center) on February 11th.
We enjoyed serving the residents so much and we look forward to next year!
