One of our hawk watch coordinators made a visit to the Pilot Mountain Hawk Watch run by Forsyth Audubon, and to the State Park Visitor Center in North Carolina last week! It was October 1st, a day after their last count day, but still seen that day, a soaring and stooping resident Peregrine Falcon, an American Kestrel flying and preening, a Sharp-shined Hawk, a late migrating Broad-winged Hawk blowing by the K**b, Ravens, and many local Black and Turkey Vultures soaring around all the while. The Visitors Center had excellent educational displays on migrating raptors, Monarch Butterflies and Dragonflies using the ridge and 'K**b' as a thermal help to migrate south.
