On Tuesday Aug 25th, 2026 at 6:27am, we were paged to a report of a car vs train collision near the intersection of Hwy 210 & W Gull River Rd. One of our firefighters was on scene within 1 minute of our page. The vehicle came to rest on the south side of the tracks & the train had come to a stop.
Our firefighter was able to reach the lone occupant on the other side by crawling under the train. Unfortunately, the driver did not survive.
The train had been traveling Westbound and the vehicle was attempting to cross the tracks from South to North (heading towards Hwy 210).
We would like to thank the Cass County Sheriffs Office, North Ambulance, BNSF, Collins Brothers Towing, MN State Patrol & Brenny Funeral
Home for working together under these difficult circumstances. Please keep the family of the victim, & all of those who responded and who were involved, in your thoughts tonight.
