Pigeon Historical Society Dedicated to preserving the boundless history of Pigeon, Michigan and the surrounding community.

Article II – Purpose
The purpose of this society shall be to discover, collect and preserve any material which may help to establish the History of the Pigeon Community and surrounding region, as well as provide accessibility to the collected materials for all who wish to examine or study it. The Society will also disseminate historical information to promote interest in the history of the Pigeon Community.

From the pages of The Pigeon Progress, Ninety-five years ago, June 19, 1931: O.P. Chapin has laid out 120 resort lots at what is known as the "bite of the Bay" near the mouth of Mud Creek. He has already disposed of 10 lots.

From the pages of The Pigeon Progress, Ninety-five years ago, June 19, 1931: Solomon Schluchter will open a new IGA store in the building formerly occupied by Elder's Drug Store in Pigeon. William Schumacher will use part of the space for his meat market.

From the pages of The Progress-Advance, Forty years ago, June 18, 1986: Nine Pigeon Historical Society volunteers Saturday provided muscle power to beautify the former railroad depot building in the center of town, site of the Society's proposed Historical Museum. Workers filled planters using - appropriately - railroad ties around the building. More plantings and clean-up are planned, according to Society President Marie Leipprandt.

From the pages of The Progress-Advance, Sixty years ago, June 16, 1966: Neil Weidman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Orville Weidman, Pigeon, was the winner of a five-day trip to California in a boys' contest sponsored by the Pigeon IGA store. Other prize winners were Dwight Killinger, Billy Roe, Dale Binder, Danny Maxwell and Randy Fritz.

Cast includes Barbara Richmond, Ross Geiger, Buddy Kreh, Barbara Bailey, Jerry Kreh, Ellen Miller, Vernon Kretzschmer, and Janette Geiger.

years ago, June 14, 1901: Now that there is rural mail delivery, farmers are thinking of having telephone service. The farmers would put in the poles, string the wire, etc., and a small tax to all would be added.
