We're planning to replace this manual sign with a new digital sign. The cost of the new sign is approximately $18,000.00. We have $6,200.00 saved in our facilities account. So we need an additional $12,000.00. If you would be willing to donate towards the new sign, that would be wonderful. Send donations to: Pigeon Band Shell, PO Box 379, Pigeon, MI 48755. Thank you!!

History of The Pigeon Band Shell

"The Pigeon Band Shell was designed to provide a forum for local talent and to provide a wide variety of entertainment for local residents and vacationers." This Statement of Purpose is the foundation for planning events at the Pigeon Band Shell. In 1990 and 1991, several individuals from the community attended a Rural Development Leadership Program sponsored by Pioneer Hybrid International Seed Company. These individuals returned to the community charged with the responsibility of promoting the community in a multitude of ways. During one "brain-storming" session, the concept of a facility to host entertainment was discussed and the Band Shell was born. Built as a community effort with volunteer labor, the Band Shell hosted it's first concert featuring pianist (and area native) Barb Dixon in summer of 1991. At this time, the Band Shell project was turned over to the Village of Pigeon. During the summer concert seasons, the Band Shell has hosted programs featuring community groups, big bands, dance artists, comedians, magicians, hypnotists and concert bands. In December 1998, the original Band Shell structure was destroyed by fire. The community was immediate in it's response to rebuild. Modifications were made to the original design, enlarging the structure as well as upgrading the electrical system to accommodate the needs of many performers. During the planning and construction phase in the Summer of 1999, concerts were held at the Laker High School auditorium. Summer 2000 kicked off a new season at a rebuilt facility Now in our third decade of providing family-friendly entertainment, we invite you to join us for a summer of fun at the Band Shell.
