The Missouri Shores office will be closed Friday, June 19th. We will reopen during normal business hours on Monday, June 22nd.
We kindly ask that donations are not left at the shelter over the holiday weekend. We appreciate all contributions we receive and do not want them damaged, or stolen.

As always, a trained advocate can be reached during a crisis 24/7 by calling 1-800-696-7187.

Have a safe and happy holiday weekend!

Six years of showing up for others, offering support, and making a difference—what an incredible milestone for our Rural Outreach Advocate, McKayla Poindexter! 💜

Advocacy is more than a career; it's a commitment to empowering others, amplifying voices, and working toward a future free from violence. While this work can be challenging, over the past six years McKayla has remained dedicated to supporting survivors by being a listening ear, offering encouragement, and helping individuals recognize their strength.

Thank you, McKayla. Six years of meaningful work in the rearview, with so much more ahead to be grateful for. 💜

✨WISHLIST WEDNESDAY✨

The needs in our shelter can change from week to week, and this list comes directly from the case managers working alongside our clients everyday.

This week we are especially in need of toilet paper, laundry detergent, dish soap, and women’s casual shoes (all sizes).

💜Become a Project Safe Place Partner💜

When someone experiencing domestic violence needs immediate help, your business could be the safe place they turn to first.

Through Project Safe Place, businesses receive a short, practical training from Missouri Shores Domestic Violence Center on how to safely respond, connect victims with support, and be a trusted community resource.

Participating businesses will receive a Project Safe Place sticker to display, letting the community know your business is a safe and supportive place to turn for help.

Contact us at 605-224-0256 for more information.

MSDVC would like to thank Dr. Jenna Wickersham for putting on a feminine hygiene product drive. Dr. Wickersham was able to collect 2,592 tampons, 1,337 pads, and $250.

Often times when a survivor is fleeing an abusive situation, they arrive to the shelter with nothing but the clothes on their back. Each donation received helps provide our clients with basic, but necessary hygiene items for no cost.

Thank you to everyone who donated feminine hygiene products, monetary donations, and their time to make this a successful event!
