Today, the Zonta Club of Pierre-Fort Pierre joins Zonta International and communities around the world in raising awareness about human trafficking and standing in support of survivors. Human trafficking can affect women, children, and men in communities everywhere, including through forced labor, exploitation, coercion, and increasingly through online scams and fraudulent job offers.
This year the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime has picked the theme, “Trapped Behind the Scam,” highlighting the growing reality that traffickers are using fake opportunities and online platforms to exploit vulnerable people and coerce them into criminal activity. Awareness is one of the first steps toward prevention.
We encourage everyone to learn the signs, share trusted resources, and speak up if something does not seem right. Together, we can help protect human rights, support survivors, and work toward a world free from exploitation.
