Hello former Pierre Area Reading Council—It is with a heavy heart that I share the news that Kathy Kraft has passed away today. I know she was such a big part of our reading council and brought such fun to every meeting. She will be so missed.

I am not sure how many of you still follow this page, but I wanted to let you know that Bob Parliman passed away Sunday. Bob was a member of the reading council and a very good friend and colleague. He will be greatly missed. I always enjoyed his sense of humor and words of wisdom. I will keep you updated on funeral arrangements when I find out more.

Since our Reading Council is no longer, should we make this a book club page? Maybe I can rename it Pierre Area Reading Club. Would any of you like to get together still and of course eat and discuss a good book. Maybe we could even go to a movie or something fun. I know I will miss this group!

A note from our president:
Children’s Awards & Celebration is Sat., April 29th at 10 at the GMMS old gym (usual spot.) We will be serving cookies. Following the awards the group will be invited to go to the Discovery Center. They will sign in when they get there and PARC will pay for their admission. PARC members may go to Discovery Center also. We will have lunch and a meeting at the Pub – lower level. I told them we would be there at 12:00 or a little after. I have reserved a table. PARC will be paying for the lunch.

Please let me know if you are able to attend.

Tonight we met and did a Governor's walk around the capital. We learned more about each statue. Of course we then met over supper to plan the upcoming awards program.

Don't forget: TODAY!!! Jan 16th at 4 pm at Jefferson school 900 N poplar. We will have a business meeting followed by "getting crafty" with Jackie and Jen. We will be painting a canvas picture. If you have contest entries please bring them to the meeting or get them to Diane or Kathy. Also bring a snack to share.
