Thorne Post #2038 VFW Auxiliary's objective is to support the Veterans of Foreign Wars, assist veterans, active military, and their families in the Pierre / Ft Pierre area. The VFW Auxiliary is one of the nation’s oldest
veterans’ service organizations and our members
are the relatives of those who have served in a
location of foreign conflict. We have nearly half a
million members nationwide who

volunteer
millions of hours and fundraise millions of dollars
for charitable projects that benefit veterans,
military service personnel, and their families. Through our National Programs, we assist the
VFW pass or block legislation that impacts
veterans and their families, provide nearly a
million volunteer hours in the VA medical system,
conduct patriotic programs with thousands of
dollars in scholarships for our nation’s youth. With nearly 4,000 Auxiliaries, there is likely one
in your area working to improve the lives of
America’s uncommon heroes.

On Wednesday, July 22, 2026, we had a fundraiser at Pizza Ranch in Ft Pierre. All funds received are used to provide help to Veterans and their families in need.
Thank you to everyone that dined in and ordered delivery and carryout! The fundraiser was a huge success!

On Saturday, June 28, 2026, we had the honor of being color guard for the Quilts of Valor Ceremony at First United Methodist Church in Pierre, SD. Each and every Veteran that receives a quilt deserves that honor and recognition. We are so proud of them all! One of our very own VFW members, Richard "Butch" Jacobson (husband of our VFW Auxiliary member Bell Jacobson) was presented with his own quilt during this year's ceremony.
