Provost Challenge Site Update:
We are officially switching to the backup site for the event. The schedule on our website for Saturday is still accurate, but instead of the downstream lodge we will be at the gym at Buchanan Elementary School at 100 N Buchanan Ave here in Pierre. The green square on the map below is where Gate will be located, just inside the gym doors. There will be no other entrances into the site. We need to be out of the gym by 6 PM. Post revel social time and potluck will still be taking place at the Lodge starting at 7 PM, and you are still welcome to stay at the Lodge overnight.

Because our new site is an elementary school, we have a few policy and housekeeping updates.
Below is the school's Public Conduct policy.

With exception for small bumps and bruises and for our simulation swords due to the nature of our sport, we otherwise need to abide by the following document. I will also add this to our website for easy retrieval, and below I will highlight policies that are most relevant.
Please DO NOT bring live steel to the event. We will have a serrated bread knife on hand for bread, and blunt butter knives, and all of the rest of the food can be eaten without a knife.
The site is now DRY. No alcohol is allowed on school property. Alcohol can be present at the post revel and potluck at the Lodge, but do not bring any to the gym.
Buchanan Elementary School has a no smoking policy on the entire school grounds. On the map below I have highlighted a patch of public land across the street that will be our designated smoking area, and I will have a wood-handled black and yellow golf umbrella by the gym entrance available for anyone who needs to pop across the street.
Finally, for our traditional soup lunch:
There are bathrooms a short walk from the gym that we are allowed explicitly to rinse our feast gear in, but we will also have a scrape station and Lysol wipes available for cleaning up after lunch. The new site DOES NOT have a kitchen! Please bring your own feast gear if you are able. We will have a small quantity of paper bowls available, and Tancorix will also have eight wooden bowls available for free for any newcomers to the SCA who do not yet have or cannot afford their own feast gear to take home with them.
For fighters, the new gym has a brand new wooden floor. Please keep that in mind when you select your footwear for the day and be gentle when setting your swords down. We're really lucky to have this space and if we keep it nice we might be allowed back.
Hopefully this is our last missive ahead of the event. Drive safe on your way out here and we will see you bright and early Saturday morning at the gym!
