Dolly Parton grew up in a small home in the Smoky Mountains, one of 12 children. Her family didn’t have much, but Dolly has often shared how much a book meant to her as a child—and how her father, who could not read or write, inspired her to make sure other children had opportunities he never had.
That childhood experience became the heart behind the Dolly Parton Imagination Library: a simple belief that every child deserves the chance to dream, to imagine, and to discover what’s possible through a book.
For years, Gary and Connie have been helping carry Dolly’s dream forward right here in our communities.
Because of their incredible generosity, children receive books month after month—books that may become treasured childhood memories, bedtime stories shared with a parent, or the very first step toward a lifelong love of reading.
Gary and Connie, thank you for believing in Dolly’s dream and for helping make that dream a reality for children in our community.
As Dolly herself has said, “You can never get enough books into the hands of enough children.”
Thank you for helping us do just that.
