And once again death in DOC let’s not forget that she was placed in Ad-Seg and was supposed to be released to go home soon. Now because of staff not paying attention this young lady is gone.
Ad-Seg has cameras so staff not seeing a young women murdered is crazy to me.

I pray for her family who lost their loved one because of DOC neglect.

Missouri Department of Corrections just keeps failing everyone. Yet they want 869 million dollars to build 2 more prisons when they can’t even handle the ones they have.

Another MODOC inmate has passed away at the Chillicothe Correctional Facility on Friday, an autopsy is pending.

Ms. McClung was due to be released today.

Prayers for the family, we must have better prison systems and alter the rate of deaths behind bars.

This year at the capital has been frustrating to see bills made with no knowledge. How can you make bills but have never even walked into a prison, never sat with someone formally or still incarcerated and make life altering decisions for all of Missouri. You may not agree with me on every issue but surely you agree spending $869 million dollars in the next couple years to build new prisons is ridiculous because they have no clue how the system really works.

When people who were incarcerated or are currently incarcerated are in the rooms and helping build a better system crime will lower, building more prisons wouldn’t need to happen and the real change society seeks would happen.

Another one set free

Today, Carmen Mejia was exonerated after Travis County District Court Judge P. David Wahlberg dismissed a 2003 murder charge against her, following a ruling from the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals (CCA) β€” the state's highest criminal court β€” overturning her convictions and finding that new evidence established that Ms. Mejia is "actually innocent."

The CCA's decision on Jan. 22, 2026 found Ms. Mejia actually innocent of the death of a 10-month-old infant in her care who was critically burned from scalding bathwater due to a water heater in her rental home that lacked safety technology. Ms. Mejia has spent the last 22 years in prison for what the State claimed to be murder but now agrees was, in fact, a tragic accident.

The state's own medical examiner reversed the manner of death from homicide to accident. The State's key experts who originally testified against Ms. Mejia recanted their testimony supporting the prosecution's theory that an adult had to have intentionally caused the burns. Judge P. David Wahlberg found that no crime ever took place and subsequently, the CCA ruled that Ms. Mejia had established her innocence and overturned her conviction.

When you show up to testify against raising min-mandatory sentences and watch the Director of the Missouri Department of Corrections testify in favor you wonder WTH.
We need a Director who focuses on rehabilitation not keeping the prison full with longer sentences. You say you are doing all these programs to bring change in culture. I call BS. You would not testify to increase C, D and E felonies. PERIOD.
