⚠️ High Confidence Winter Storm | This Weekend

Confidence is increasing in a significant winter storm impacting the entire area this weekend. Cold air will already be in place before the storm and will remain locked in afterward, raising concerns for refreeze issues well into next week.

At this point, I don’t see us getting out of the 30s from Saturday through much of next week, with another surge of even colder Arctic air potentially dropping highs into the 20s late next week.

Because of that setup, ice is becoming a growing concern — and ice combined with prolonged cold can lead to travel issues and possible power outages.

Now is the time to begin thinking through weekend plans and what it would look like to stay home for several days if needed — food, water, prescriptions, and backup plans if power is lost.

I’ll continue refining the details and be very clear as confidence increases or decreases.

Anderson County is creating a new comprehensive plan! The Piedmont Area Plan, which is adopted, will still be the most specific and local plan for our community but it is important to provide feedback and participate in the comprehensive plan process. It is our civic responsibility as citizens. This document is intended to guide the next decade of growth in the county. By law, all counties in South Carolina should have a comprehensive plan and should update all elements of the plan every ten years. The more we participate and provide feedback, the better! FACT FRIDAY! Did you know that over 50% of the wetlands in the U.S. have been lost? Wetlands are CRITICAL ecosystems that protect communities from floods, clean our water resources, and provide critical wildlife habitats. Many threatened or endangered species depend on wetlands.

Y’all stay safe out there!!!

‼️ LEVEL 4 HEAT WAVE ‼️
A new outlook now puts us at a Level 4 – Extreme heatwave, showing just how serious this heat will be… and the worst of it right here in Carolina Georgia! This isn’t just “summer hot” – it’s dangerous, and even top athletes can struggle in this type of weather.

✅ Delay, postpone, or cancel outdoor plans if you can… it’s worth it. I promise.

Relief? A cool down may finally arrive by Friday.
