We’ve been a little quiet lately, but for a very good reason — 33 precious kittens have been keeping us busy! 🐾💕

Kitten season arrived hard and fast this year, just as it has for so many rescues. Before we knew it, we had more than 20 kittens moving through quarantine spaces and into larger areas of our home, where they could safely grow, play, and simply be kittens.

As quarantine spaces opened up, we welcomed even more little ones, and the requests for help continue to pour in. It has been a whirlwind, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.

The exciting news is that some of our kittens are now old enough for their spay/neuter surgeries and vaccinations, so we’re beginning to schedule those appointments. That means they’re getting closer to finding their forever families! 🏡

Photos and individual bios will be coming soon, and we’ll also be opening pre-adoption applications in the near future. Stay tuned—you’re going to fall in love with these babies! 🐱❤️

Nova update - She has been on eye meds since Wednesday and they are looking so much better! She can actually see her food now instead of just smell it. Her energy is up and she is becoming a very spunky girl! She is definitely a fighter!

Meet our 18th kitten, Nova! Nova was found in the middle of a highway by Hennessey with her eyes completely matted shut. We picked her up this afternoon and took her to our favorite vet! Thank you so much Dr. Stevens and the entire staff at OK Animal Urgent Care for taking such good care of our newest addition. It will take some time for Nova's eyes to start clearing up and even more time for her hair to grow back. Only time will tell if any permanent damage is done to her eyes. In the meantime she has a full belly, safe place to heal, and is loved!

This is what rescue is all about for me! Being their safe place..no matter how their lives started showing them love, compassion, and that they are safe. Sometimes they instantly attach because you saved them and other times it takes longer because they have already become accustomed to living outside and do not trust anyone. Either way they are welcome with us!! We love them all!

TNR is care. Killing is failure.

The story of community cats has never been about too little humane policy. It has always focused on "too many cats." That is just the excuse to kill.

Cats exist outdoors because humans put them there through abandonment, displacement, and years of local government neglect. Blaming the cats distracts agencies from modernizing and wildlife groups from facing the real causes of ecological decline: habitat loss, pollution, urban expansion, and human-caused environmental collapse.

Community cats are not an “invasive threat.” They are domesticated animals living on the edges of human society, and they deserve the same compassion we show to any other pet.

TNR is the only ethical, evidence-based response.

Trap-Neuter-Return doesn’t “control overpopulation.” It ends preventable suffering by stopping the reproductive cycle, stabilizing colonies, and allowing cats to live their lives without producing more kittens outdoors, who would face harsh conditions.

TNR works because it reflects reality:

- Cats are already here because of human actions.
- Removing them creates a vacuum that quickly fills.
- Stabilized, sterilized colonies naturally decline over time.
- Caregivers provide food, monitoring, and medical support.
- Communities see fewer complaints, fewer kittens, and fewer deaths.

No killing.
No excuses.
No manufactured crisis.
The real cruelty is the outdated system.

Catch-and-kill has failed for over a century. It wastes taxpayer money, traumatizes communities, and does nothing to change outcomes. Mandatory licensing, feeding bans, and punitive laws don’t “solve” anything; they simply punish compassion and force cats into more dangerous situations.

A humane society doesn’t punish caregivers. A humane society supports those doing the work. The standard is simple:

Leave the cats alone.
Support TNR.
Protect caregivers.
End lethal impoundment.

Community cats are part of our shared landscape. They are not the enemy. Cruelty, neglect, and outdated policy are.

It has been a busy few weeks for us. We have been busy trapping and have a few new faces to share with you! Our mission is not just TNR, it is also to help friendly cats get off the streets and find safe, loving homes. I'll be sharing more about these kitties throughout the week.

We also received our first grant funds last week! We are so excited to put this money to use and help more community cats!! We appreciate all of you for following our journey and sharing our stories.

We are so excited to announce that Gabby has completed her quarantine period, was negative for FIV and FeLV, and is now up to date on her vaccines. This all means she is ready for her forever home!! Gabby is a sweet girl that would make a great lap cat and companion because she loves to talk. She has only been in our house for a day but is fine with our 2 dogs and other cats. This week has been an extremely tough one. I did everything I possibly could to save these two precious babies, but it wasn't enough. We lost Rory first early Thursday morning and Poppy joined him yesterday afternoon. Rescue is hard and sad and heartbreaking! I did get to show these babies love while they were here and I am so thankful for that. I 🩷 you Rory and Poppy and you will be forever missed!

Help us welcome the newest members of Wild Kitty Krew, Rory and Poppy!! Their feral mom had a litter of 4 kittens on Wednesday, March 4th, after we trapped the majority of her colony earlier that evening. After getting the call from the colony caregiver that she found kittens, we returned to trap mom and rescue babies to ensure they stayed safe. Our hope was for mom to care for the babies until able to wean, but that was not the case. We lost two babies on Friday and have a very sick Rory and healthier Poppy that we are now caring for. I am so thankful for the support system I have that jumped into action with me on Friday evening and gave me resources for supportive care. Rory is having upper respiratory and breathing issues so he is receiving tube feedings round the clock, fluids, antibiotics, and steaming from a nebulizer. Poppy is receiving more preventive care since she isn't currently showing signs of being sick. She is receiving antibiotics and is able to be fed by syringe since she can do it on her own. We do have an Amazon wishlist if you would like to purchase items towards their care or items we need for TNR.
