PRAYER & UPDATE

Sorry I have not been able to post often on here. A LOT has been happening. I wish I could give updates on the past few months but I will just touch on todays news

Today we are praying for my mom’s donor surgery. Today my mom is undergoing surgery to donate her kidney to a stranger.

For those who have been following know we have been praying and searching for a kidney for my sister Des. Although my mom is not a match to donate to Des directly she is able to donate thru UCLA medical swap program. This puts Des in a position to get the next available kidney that is a perfect match for her. As a family we give all glory to God and want to acknowledge this miracle that is taking place today. God is using my mom to save someone’s life today and put Des in a better position than she was yesterday.

We ask for prayers for the surgeons steady hands and clear mind as well as my mom’s quick recovery. We also want to pray for the individual who is recieving her kidney. We will never meet them but we hope they live a happy and healthy life.

We will continue to wait for Des’s kidney and pray for her health but today we will celebrate this miracle.

God Bless 🫶🏻✌🏻

Hello friends and family!

Thank you again for all of those who have shared my sisters story and have kept her in your prayers. This is a picture of Des at dialysis.

When it’s your Dialysis day you gotta go . No Holidays no Birthdays no sick days no time off.
My sister Des goes to Dialysis 3 times a week for 3 hours at a time. Dialysis is her life support machine. She will continue to go to all her dialysis appointments until she receives her donor kidney.

In Search for a Living Kidney Donor for Desiree Gonzalez

My name is Debbie and I created this page in hopes to help find my sister Desiree Gonzalez a living donor. At the very least i hope we spread awareness on kidney disease and on living donors. My sister is 43 years old she has 5 children between the ages of 9 and 26. She herself is the oldest of 6 and I can vouch as her little sister that she is an amazing older sister. She is a loving wife to her husband David and great daughter to our parents.
Desiree’s search for a Kidney began in 2017 when she was put on dialysis. A few years prior the Doctors told Des she has Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGF), a rare kidney disease which would cause the kidneys to become fully unable to do their job and ultimately awaiting her day to need a new one. Desiree has still not been told the primary cause of this disease and is currently undergoing test at UCLA to discover why she has this disease. All doctors could tell her was that FSGS was incurable and it was inevitable that she would one day be on dialysis in need of a kidney.
Being on Dialysis that long can take its toll on your body, my sister has become fragile and lost ability to urinate. She is limited to the amount of liquid she is able to intake and is also on a low sodium diet. Through the years my sister has had countless stays at the hospital. Years on dialysis has led her to have other health complications. These health complications include but are not limited to her to have insomnia, anxiety, high blood pressure, thyroid disease, severe anemia in need of a blood transfusion, heart failure, and port complications.
Her last procedure and visit to the hospital was due to a port infection. This can be deadly if mishandled or not treated in a timely matter. Her doctors had to decide to start a new port in her chest so that she can continue dialysis while the port on her arm healed. When everything was done her Doctor looked at Des and after reading her chart said “wow girl you are a fighter and this was a big one you dodged.”

As I mentioned earlier my sister is the oldest of 6 and a mother of 5. She is a natural care taker. If you are familiar with older sisters you know how they also hold a bit of a mother figure to their younger siblings. If you are familiar with mothers you know she has given the past 26 years worrying about her children before herself. I watch my sister Desiree try her best to not let her disease define her. Days where she is weak she will ounce up every bit of strength to still make sure her kids spring break and summer vacations are not missing adventure and fun.

Being a donor and giving Des a kidney would mean saving her life. You would be giving her children hope that they will have their mom for life’s big moments. If you have it in your heart to test and see if you can possibly be a living donor click the link below and refer to Desiree Gonzalez - birthday (11/20/79) in your application.

Link to Apply as a living Donor is found on this page. Thank you! 🙏🏻🫶🏻 UCLA Transplant link. Please feel free to ask question and of course we all ask you lift my sister Desiree up in your prayers.
