Pickford FD had our annual dinner and service awards presentation yesterday afternoon at the park. Four of our Firefighters were recognized for mile stones.

Also after 35 years of service to Pickford our Assistant Fire Chief Marc Johnson has officially retired and was presented with a plaque honoring his service. Please join me in congratulating Marc on his retirement from the fire service and thanking him for all he has done for the citizens of Pickford and the surrounding area.
Marc, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your service to the community, your leadership to the department and most of all being a great friend! Friends and brothers we will always be!

Great job ladies!

It’s not that often that our EMS providers are able to reconnect with patients we come in contact with in the field. Back in March, this patient needed life saving interventions after his heart stopped pumping blood(VFib). Luckily, the patient was with our providers and they were able to defibrillate and convert the patient back into Normal Sinus rhythm. Patient care was transferred to the hospital where he stayed for another week.

We were so grateful for the opportunity to be able to arrange a reunion with our providers.

If you’re looking for a great way to give back and help your community look no further. Pickford Fire Department has openings for firefighters. We provide fire protection and emergency medical response to Pickford and Marquette Townships. All training and equipment will be provided. This is a paid on call department so you would receive a small stipend every month to help offset any expenses (Gas and so forth) you may have while volunteering for runs and training sessions. ***Update 6/5/26 @ 2100 hrs***

Telephone carriers have reported that services for calling 911 have been restored. Preliminary testing has confirmed this. 911 operations have returned to normal.

If you continue to experience problems with normal telecommunication issues aside from calling 911, please contact your service provide for additional information.

Thank you to our EMS and Fire Fighters for staffing their halls during this outage.

Chippewa County Central Dispatch is aware of an intermittent and widespread phone outage affecting the South and East sides of the county.

Due to this outage, some citizens may experience degraded service or no service at all.

Out of an abundance of caution, we have communicated with the first responder agencies in those locations to assist with emergency notifications and emergency service requests. Should you find yourself unable to access 911, you may go to your nearest Fire/EMS Hall. These locations will be staffed 24/7, and responders will be able to relay your emergency to the dispatch center by radio.

The communications carrier has advised that additional resources are en route to troubleshoot and repair. There has been no ETA provided.

We will update as we receive additional information.
