🐾❤️ FROM RESCUE TO RESCUER! ❤️🐾
Some shelter dogs go on to become beloved family pets. Others go on to do something extraordinary. And one of our former shelter pups is getting ready to do just that! 🥹
Remember Gage? 🐕
Gage arrived at Pearl River County SPCA in May of this year with his two siblings, Gavin and Gabe. Three little puppies who needed a chance at a better life.
In July, Gage got that chance when Brooke with The Dog School New Orleans adopted him and began preparing him for something much bigger!
Now, at just 7 months old, Gage is taking the next big step in his journey.
He’s going from rescue dog to RESCUER! ❤️
Gage, along with fellow future search and rescue dog Hank, was picked up today by Ground Zero Emergency Training Center and is headed to Oklahoma!
Over the next year, these boys will undergo specialized search and rescue detection training, learning to locate both living people and human remains.
Once their training is complete, they could be paired with handlers and become part of search and rescue teams deployed to disasters around the world. 🌎🐾
Think about that for a moment.
A little puppy who once needed someone to rescue HIM may one day be the reason someone else is found. ❤️
THIS is why second chances matter.
We are incredibly proud of Gage and so grateful to Brooke and the team at The Dog School New Orleans for seeing his potential, giving him an opportunity, and helping prepare him for this incredible journey.
We’re cheering for Hank, too, as these two boys begin the next chapter of their lives!
From a shelter kennel in Picayune, Mississippi, to training for a mission that could change lives.
GO DO BIG THINGS, GAGE AND HANK! 🐾❤️👏
