Barnstone Art for Kids uses the Power of Art to foster resiliency in children facing adversity.

Barnstone Art for Kids is a creative resource for qualified child centers looking to provide their children with an arts program. With the mission statement, "Using the power of art to help children with a shaken sense of security heal, cope and grow," Barnstone Art for Kids believes children need positive adult interaction and the opportunity to express themselves. Barnstone Art for Kids Power of Art Program features an interactive art project between a child and a volunteer mentor each week for 6 weeks in a small group setting promoting creativity, confidence and problem solving. We are currently developing a full year curriculum for sustained arts programming, with the success of our small groups motivating progress for the future. Recycled Runway Fashion Show at the barn!

Thursday, November 5, 6-9 p.m.

How can you get involved?

We have two upcoming workshops for your little fashionista to create their signature look.

(We will also have supplies on hand to create your wearable fashion at the event.)

Thursday, October 22, silly.little.artshop will be hosting a pop-up workshop where you can create your fashion.

Sunday, October 25, we will be hosting a workshop at the barn, run by local artist victoria o’neill

You can sign up for both events through the Barnstone website.

Recycled Runway is a fundraiser to benefit Barnstone art for kids.

Tickets for adults can be purchased in bio, kids are free.

✨Join Barnstone Art for Kids on November 5th ✨ for Recycled Runway: A Paper Bag Masquerade and Fashion Show, an inventive evening of creativity, community, and charity inspired by iconic artist Saul Steinberg.

🎭Guests are invited to don their own handmade paper bag mask in a playful masquerade, all while cheering on local youth as they strut down the barn staircase runway in original, wearable paper high fashion.

🖼️ Throughout the night, attendees can enjoy light refreshments and purchase “masked” Mystery Artworks - original, wrapped art pieces available for $50 to $75 and revealed as guests exit.

🎟️ Tickets are $35 per person (young fashionistas are FREE), with every dollar raised directly supporting Barnstone’s creative youth programs.

On Tuesday, November 5th, we will be hosting our first annual Recycled Runway, an inventive evening of handmade paper bag masquerade, local youth wearable paper fashion, light refreshments, and mystery artworks! Program this week was bittersweet, as it was our very last week of Creative Summer! You know what they say- time flies when you're having fun! Well, when you're not only having fun but also creating art, making new friends, learning new things, and discovering your own special talents and strengths- You might feel time fly by so fast, it seems like it was magic 😉
This week, we each decorated a traveler's mantle- a small square of fabric meant to be worn on a journey. Using foam stamps and ink, we created our own unique designs on the fabric- We even made our own stamps, by cutting foam shapes and gluing them to a cardboard backing! When we put our traveler's mantle on, we are reminded of a simple truth: The magic was inside us all along- and we can take it with us, wherever we go. Magic is not limited to Creative Summer, or even to Barnstone (though, we do think there is a lot of that here!). Magic lives inside all of our young artists- and in all that they create. We wish all of our artists a wonderful, creative, and magical rest of their summer! 🪄🎨✨❤️😊

"What's your favorite animal?"
Chances are you've probably been asked that question before, and if you love nature as much as we do- then chances are, you definitely have a response!
But, have you ever thought about WHY you feel drawn to a particular kind of animal?
This week, we learned about spirit animals- also known as "familiars" in the magic world, these are animals that we as humans feel a special connection with. Often, these connections serve to teach us lessons, guide us on our path in life, or protect us from harm.
Our artists designed and drew their spirit animals (using charcoal attached to their wands), and then colored them in with liquid watercolor paints. Every painting turned out so unique and beautiful, that we simply had to display the finished work- And we now have all of our spirit animals hanging on a gallery wall. So, if you stop by, turns out you might see some animals in the Barn these days! 😉🐍🐆🐋🐖🐉 🎨
