On this day in 1917, thousands witnessed the Miracle of the Sun at Fatima, the final of Our Lady's apparitions to three shepherd children. A powerful reminder of the call to prayer and conversion she gave us. Please join the Legion of Mary this Thursday, October 15th at 7:30pm in the Chapel, as we honor our Blessed Mother through the beautiful devotion of the Holy Rosary.

“May Pope Leo's recovery be complete and swift and may our Blessed Mother wrap him in her loving mantle of maternal care.”

Dear friends,

Early this morning the Holy Father shared that he will undergo surgery within the next few days to have a small nodule removed from one of his lungs.

I ask all people throughout the Catholic Church of Philadelphia to join their hearts and voices in prayerful solidarity for the intention of Pope Leo’s health.

The Vatican has indicated that the prognosis is a very hopeful one. We ask that God strengthen our beloved Holy Father and guide the skillful hands of the medical professionals who will care for him.

May Pope Leo’s recovery be complete and swift and may our Blessed Mother wrap him in her loving mantle of maternal care.

Most Reverend Nelson J. Pérez, D.D.
Archbishop of Philadelphia
