The Supreme Court just changed the rules of the map.

Voting maps decide whose voices get grouped together — and whose power gets sliced up like gas station pizza. The Court’s new ruling makes it much harder to challenge maps that weaken minority voting power, especially when map-drawers can claim they were helping a political party, not targeting a racial group.

That matters in Arizona.

We have an Independent Redistricting Commission, but our communities still have to stay alert. If neighborhoods in South Phoenix, Maryvale, Tucson, or other communities of color are split apart, it may now be harder to fight those maps in court.

The message is clear: the courtroom door just got heavier.

So what do we do?

We organize.
We check our voter registration.
We educate our neighbors.
We show up to community meetings.
We watch the 2026 ballot.
And when maps are being drawn, we get in the room and say: do not split our power, do not dilute our voice, and do not mistake our patience for permission.

The Supreme Court did not take away our vote.

But it did make the game harder.

So now we play smarter — and we bring everybody with us.
