Grand Chapter of Arizona - OES

Grand Chapter of Arizona - OES Welcome to the Grand Chapter of Arizona - Order of the Eastern Star. For more information about Arizona Grand Chapter, please see our website azoes.com.

We are one of the largest fraternal organizations that both men and women can belong. Dr. Robert Morris, the poet laureate of Masonry, founded this Order using beautiful and inspiring Biblical examples of heroic conduct and moral values. These portray the noble principles which should adorn the personal lives of Eastern Star members. Eastern Star strives to build an environment for our members and

our Order which is truly dedicated to Charity, Truth and Loving Kindness by uplifting each other and through service in our communities. The Order of the Eastern Star was founded by Dr. Rob Morris in the late 1800’s. As a Master Mason, Dr. Morris had the idea that it would be nice to have a way for female relatives of Master Masons to share the benefits of knowledge and self-improvement that Freemasonry made available to men and to have a place in the Masonic Family that would allow men and women to participate together. In 1850, Dr. Morris selected the Biblical heroines and the lessons and values of the Order. The first ceremony book for the Order was compiled and published under the title of “The Rosary of the Eastern Star.”
In 1866, Dr. Morris became associated with Mr. Robert Macoy, who took over the planning and organization of the Order of the Eastern Star. In 1867 and 1868, Mr. Macoy compiled and published a Ritual, using Dr. Morris’ Rosary as a guide. This was the beginning of the organization of Chapters of the Order of the Eastern Star in the United States as well as internationally. He immediately attempted to make the work more systematic and succeeded in adapting it to organized Chapters in such a way as to assure their success. The first Grand Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star was organized in Michigan in 1867. The first chapter in Arizona, Golden Rule #1 in Prescott, was founded by Morris Goldwater and chartered in 1882. In 1900, the first eight chapters in Arizona came together to form the Grand Chapter of Arizona. Currently, there are 35 Chapter in the state of Arizona.

Hello all,

Some have asked about the Arizona Grand Chapter session forms already.

So you know, traditionally, they come out around the first of April. I'm working on them now.

Check azoes.org for forms and I will let you know when they're up. We will accept PayPal or you can print and fill out forms once they're on the website. We need a form for each person, but you only will need to write one check for the total this year and mail it to one location even if multiple people register (just include all reservations in the one envelope).

If you're in need of making airline reservations, here are some answers to the schedule of the various banquets and sessions.

The session is in Scottsdale, so you would probably want to fly to Phoenix Sky Harbor. For insurance reasons, the Grand Chapter doesn't provide transportation, so you will either need to find a shuttle, uber it, or call a friend for transportation.

I still don't have a link to the hotel to make reservations. Please don't make room reservations until that link is out.

Billie's Honor Banquet will be Tuesday, Aug. 1. It will have a Halloween theme, so wear a costume if you'd like. There will be a no-host bar at 5:30 p.m. and dinner will start at around 6:30 p.m. The seating is limited to the space in the room, so as soon as the forms come out, you may want to make reservations.

There will be a distinguished tour on Wednesday in the morning/afternoon. All members are welcome. It will be a trip to a local musical instrument museum with a no-host lunch. The session is Glenda's and Lon's OV and this will fit perfectly with her theme.

We have an all-member banquet on Wednesday, Aug. 2 at 5:30 p.m. for no-host bar and 6:30 p.m. for dinner service. Paparazzi theme -- dress as your favorite movie star if you'd like.

Costumes are optional for those two banquets, but join us and have fun even if you're not in costume!

Our session runs Thursday, Aug. 3-Saturday, Aug. 5, with the installation of officers in the late afternoon/early evening of Aug. 5.

Formal es**rt for our distinguished guests is at the Thursday evening session.

There are other meals, as well. Current and former Grand Representatives and guests luncheon is on Thursday, Aug. 3 around noonish. Cavalcade of flags is usually either right after that lunch. Past Appointed Grand Officers (only - no es**rts) is on Friday around noonish (PGMs and PGPs are welcome as long as they're PAGOs). There is a PGM/PGP (and es**rt) banquet takes place on Friday evening, as well as a PM/PP (and es**rt) banquet plus the usual line officer banquets.

I hope this answers your questions.

If you have additional questions, please message me.
