High tunnels (also called high hoops) help Arizona producers protect sensitive crops from tough weather conditions like intense heat or drying winds. These covered growing structures help farmers manage Arizona's unique desert climate while using water more efficiently. 🌱

Interested in adding high tunnels to your operation? Financial assistance is available through Arizona's Producers First program. Learn more by visiting our website! https://www.aacd1944.com/azproducersfirst

When wildfires impact our National Forests, rebuilding fence lines is an important part of the recovery process.

Fence reconstruction helps restore boundary lines, define livestock grazing allotments, and keep livestock within designated pastures. Just as importantly, it supports rangeland recovery after fire by helping land managers continue responsible grazing management.

Tonto NRCD recognized the importance of this work for cooperators with grazing allotments on the Tonto National Forest, as well as the shared goal of improving range health in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service. As of March, crews contracted by AACD completed approximately 49 miles of fence line reconstruction impacted by the Telegraph Fire.

Arizona producers are finding new ways to conserve water while keeping working lands productive.

Robert Boyle, a producer operating out of Pinal County, Arizona, uses strip-till farming practices alongside the 360 RAIN system to apply water more precisely and reduce overall water use. By combining conservation-minded practices with new technology, Boyle is showing how innovation continues to shape the future of Arizona agriculture.

A 1% increase in soil organic matter can help an acre of soil hold up to 20,000 more gallons of water (Source: USDA-NRCS) — and even in Arizona’s sandy or loamy sand soils, that can still mean thousands of extra gallons held in the soil profile.

Building better soil leads to real water savings! Conservation practices like cover crops, reduced tillage, and compost application are how Arizona farmers are making every drop count. 💧
