Moon Valley Neighbors,

I want to make everyone aware of a concerning incident reported this morning in our neighborhood.

Around 6:30 AM near Coral Gables Dr. and Central Ave, a young boy walking was approached by an adult male who told him his father was in the hospital and tried to convince him to get into his vehicle.

The child asked the man for the family code word. When the man could not provide it, the child refused and left the situation safely. The suspect then left the area.

Suspect description (per the child):

Male, approximately 40–60 years old
Scruffy white hair
Slumped-over gait
Wearing black Adidas shorts with a stripe, white shirt, and green shoes with a tie-dye sole
The child described his face as “scrunchie”
No vehicle description available
Police were reportedly notified and have been searching the area.

As a precaution, please consider:

• Checking security or doorbell cameras from around 6:00–7:00 AM this morning
• Contacting Phoenix Police if you have any information or footage that may help
• Talking with your kids today about safety and not getting into vehicles with anyone they don’t know

Our neighborhood security patrol has also been notified to remain alert.

Please stay aware and look out for one another.
