Foster needed!!! this little one is *technically* adoptable at the shelter, although we personally disagree with that decision.
Heās on the euthanasia list for 4/23 for a femoral hip injury and previous pelvic fracture. Itās an old injury, and may not need surgery- but if he does need FHO surgery it is around 2k for rescues, 3-4k for the average person. If someone adopts him thinking he doesnāt need surgery but he does this can be detrimental to both the adopter and Beetle. Weād love to take him into GODR and monitor him, and of course if he needs to have surgery we will cover all medical expenses. If you can foster please apply at goodomendogrescue.org/foster
Foster must be able to take to vet visits at Sun City West Animal Hospital and keep on bed rest and do physical therapy if surgery is needed.

Evaluation Comments (Observations from our staff and volunteers)
4/15/2026
Dog was laying in kennel with stoic look. Offered treats, would not stand up for treats, slowly extended hand for dog to sniff treats in a laying position, dog would reach head to take treats gently. Slowly pet dog with no reaction to touch of hand. Slowly picked up dog without issues. Carried to small PY. Placed dog onto lap while sitting in chair, dog would lean body into handler while being pet. Slowly placed dog onto ground, dog would sniff nose to ground then slowly approach handler. Would sit @ handlers feet, quietly looking around surroundings. Allowed petting while looking around. Offered treats in hand, would take treats gently. Handler stood up & walked around then sat on bench. Dog would slowly come towards handler with soft tail wags then sat down near handlers feet, looking around quietly. Handler picked up leash, dog would not walk on leash with verbal coaxing. Slowly picked up dog & carried back to kennel. Placed dog back in kennel then removed leash by hand. Offered more treats then closed kennel door. Interested parties should be counseled on providing this dog with proper decompression time in a new home. Allowing time to adjust is important for their comfort and well-being. Adopters should be counseled on proper dog-to-dog introductions, which should only occur after the dog has fully decompressed. Families should be counseled on safe containment and supervision practices.
